Note: This is nowhere near complete. Also, these may be regional; I'm going by the standard abbreviations that are used in the hospital where I work. I think the ones I've listed are pretty standard elsewhere as well, BUT if you're going for pure authenticity, you may want to doublecheck 'em!

AD (1)- Attachment Disorder
AD (2)- Alzheimer's Disease
AD/HD or ADD - Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
AIDS - Aquired Immune Deficiency Syndrom
ALS - Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
APD - Auditory Processing Disorder
AS - Asperger's Syndrome (ASPIE = person w/ AS)

BOOP - Bronchiolitis Obliterans Organized Pneumonia
BP - Bi-polar (aka "Manic Depressive", but BP is the current preferred term.)

CAPD- Central Auditory Processing Disorder
CCD - Considerable Conduct Disorder
CCHS- Congenital Central Hypoventilatio n Syndrome
CF - Cystic Fibrosis
CFS- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
COPD - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

HFA - High Functioning Autism

LKS - Landau-Kleffler Syndrome - a form of aphasia with seizure-like activity

MPD - Mulitple Personality Disorder, though preferred term is now DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder)
MS - Multiple Sclerosis

NDA - Not diagnosed with anything
NLD or NVLD - Non-verbal Learning Disability

OCD- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
ODD - Oppositional Defiant Disorder
OMA- Ocular Motor Apraxia
OSA - Obstructive Sleep Apnea

PDD - Pervasive Developmental Disorder
PTSD- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

RLS - Restless Leg Syndrome

SIB - Self-Injurious Behaviour
SID - Sensory Integrative (or Integration) Disorder/Dysfunction

LOL. Yeah this list is nowhere even remotely close to complete. I've added those (and anyone else who has more to add, by all means!)

(A side note: two of my sisters suffer from RLS. So far I don't (*knock wood*), but oh my god it sounds HORRIBLE!!!!)

Aww... I always joke that I have it cause I can't sit still, and I hate to sit with my feet on the floor.  But the real thing does sound horrible.  I can't imagine.

LOL. I know. I tend to not sit still, and they tease me about having it, too, but it's nothing compared to what they go through. And I know I must lie pretty darn still when I sleep because my cat loves to sleep on top of my feet (and I'd think if he got kicked enough he'd *probably* not want to continue to do that...lol)
