Welcome to Beta Central!
« on: August 20, 2010, 01:09:17 PM »

Since many of you have been looking for beta readers and we have been cracking down on the rules, I thought i'd start a new board.

Use this board to ask for help with your stories. If you want someone to beta your work or if you are interested in being a beta reader, you should start a thread asking for help.

You could also just post what needs to be beta read by making a thread (wow, that rhymed!) and then maybe someone who has time, can fix it for you. That way no one is commiting to being a beta but will still help if they can!

Do not use this board as a means to get someone to read your story though lol only if you legitimately need help and if someone does give you the help and it's not something you are happy with (in terms of people being brutally honest with you) then it's best not to post.

Enjoy and post away! :)

Mare,  you are a poet...did you know-it?  ha!

OK...I need a beta for Casual.  Preferably someone who has read it and likes the nuerotic characters and has an understanding of what is going on.  I like interaction, so things like talking on IM, etc. is better for me than just emailing my completed chapter to someone.  I need someone to motivate me to write.  I also prefer a writer as a beta who has an understanding of writer-ish things.  I will also reciprocate the beta services.

I would love to help beta read a story, but like Mare was mentioning, I can't commit. But if I have time, then I'll try to help someone out. :)

I'm hoping finding a new beta will force me to find time, which will make me write because I am accountable to someone.  Wishful thinking, eh?

How are you wanting them to do this? Constantly emailing/im/twitter you?

Honestly, I'm not sure...once I find the right person I guess all of that can be worked out :)  It's weird because I've never had to find one before, my last two came out of friendships online but one of my gals isn't writing at all and the other is all Twilight these days...

I wouldn't mind giving it a try. Why kind of stuff do you write? I signed up for some other fandom writing challenges to get myself back in writing so I was forced to write so I knew I had to do it and put time aside to get it done so I know it helps. I think I need to do that again :(

Thank you so much for your offer, Karen...but since you haven't read it and I am so far into things, I think I really need someone who is caught up!  I will definitely keep you in mind for future stories.

Let me know if I can help you at all getting things going again.  I know for me, seeing some of the people on the boards get back into writing is a motivator!!!

would anyone out there be willing to read through what carterkid, kissesxoxo and I have written of HELP ME? also tell us if our future plans make sense or not? I understand people not having time to commit but just reading what is written and giving any grammar pointers or anything would be great!

I thought I'd bump this up as a reminder that if anyone wants to find someone to read their stuff before it's posted, here's the place to ask.
