Using real timelines is hard! In my holiday story, I knew it made more sense in 2000 based on what they were up to at the time, but I just didn't want to deal with the fiancee issue, so I picked 1999. You're brave for being as realistic as possible!

Get to the surgery! But you can always use the tour and recording as opportunities for Nick and Brian to be together and Leighanne to horn her way in if you need more to happen before the surgery. LA might be a good place for some drama to go down.

I just thought of something else you could include that would be coming up very soon in your story's timeline: the filming of "A Night Out With the Backstreet Boys." I looked it up, and they filmed that in Cologne, Germany on March 28, 1998. Brian and Nick were both so sexy in that video, I don't know how they would resist jumping into bed together afterwards LOL.
