I was watching a show about giraffes on Animal Planet once, and it was talking about how their trainers play a game with them to keep them distracted and calm while they are getting medical care or anything like that. The "game" is that the giraffes have to follow a ball on a stick with their heads, and if they do, they get a treat. It's really behavior conditioning. But because their memory is shorter than the time it takes them to lower their necks to follow the ball, the trainers have to make a noise in between lowering the ball and giving them the treat, to remind them what they're supposed to be doing, because otherwise they would forget.
Kinda like how Mare can't remember what she read five minutes ago. :D :P
