Here’s a new thread to discuss everything Backstreet and more. I accidentally deleted the other one. My apologies.
-
Noooo, my ~200 posts vacated! That's fine. I remember posting them, lol. Does that happen a lot, Mare?
I think the last thing I said was about seeing a quote from Nick about a possible Christmas residency? I hope this is really a thing!
-
Kevin left several comments on one of his own Instagram posts basically confirming that there will be a Christmas residency in Vegas in November-December. I hope they announce dates and details soon! December seems like a great time to go to Vegas.
I noticed my DVR is set to record one of the entertainment programs (Entertainment Tonight, maybe? I don't remember) next week because BSB are mentioned in the description, and I have something set up to record anything they're on LOL. So maybe they'll announce it next week!
-
I know, but I thought maybe Kevin was just being shady, lol. I hope so! That would be super fun before they head out on the DNA tour again!
Is it? I should check mine. I have the same setting on my DVR. Sometimes it's nice, but lately I've been getting the same crazy episode of Dr. Phil that Nick sang Madeline on over and over and over again, lol.
If they are doing a Christmas residency, I'd better get going on that "Backstreet Boys riding Pandaskunks" design I was thinking of, lol.
-
Yes!! We will definitely need Christmas pandaskunk shirts for that!
If it was just one comment, I might wonder if Kevin was just messing with us, but he left several comments about it. I don't think he would be that cruel to tease something that wasn't really happening, especially this year when we're so desperate for live BSB events.
-
The most appropriate occasion for a pandaskunk, lol.
Kevin's not the one I expected to be terrible at spoilers. He's gotta stop spending so much time in the mountains, lol.
-
Hopefully the Vegas Residency is a real thing. I’m sure it is if it came from Kevin. I’m sure he isn’t pleased with himself about leaking it though lol I’m sure if it is true, the others have completely teased him about it.
-
I'm here for Kevin leaking things! I hope they teased him sooo much, lol.
-
I would not expect Kevin to be the one to spoil things either! Usually it's AJ that has the big mouth, but AJ also talks about projects that never happen. I trust Kevin more than AJ. I'm sure they gave Kevin all kinds of crap!
-
Yeah, AJ with his big mouth and Nick "What's a Vegas?" Carter would have been my guesses. Which they basically did in the articles I read, lol. I 100% trust Kevin as this doesn't seem like a thing to be shady about... unlike his knowledge of AFC West quarterbacks, lol.
-
I don't remember where we were discussing which Boys were vaccinated, but we now have our answer about Nick. Looks like he just got his shot today. Yay Nick!
-
Good for Nick! I'm going to pretend that Kevin has convinced him and thank goodness he did, lol.
-
That was my thought, too! I bet Kevin and AJ talked him into it this week LOL. I hope they talked Howie and Brian into it too, if they're not already vaccinated. I'm kinda surprised Nick hadn't already gotten it, with as pro-science as he is, but I knew it was weird that he hadn't posted anything about it, since he posts so much. Oh well, whatever his reasons were for waiting, I'm glad he's getting it done now. We do not want to worry about a COVID/Nick Plague hybrid mutation!
-
LMFAO! I thought maybe he didn't because he posts about just about everything except for maybe using the toilet. Or maybe I just missed those ones, lol. I wonder how they felt about the others being maskless if they weren't vaccinated. 40% is not herd immunity.
I'm dying at "COVID/Nick plague hybrid mutation"! That's probably something even hand sanitizer wouldn't solve, lol.
-
Oh to be a fly on the wall in the studio! I'm real curious to know how much they discuss political things (which should not include COVID and vaccines, but unfortunately does) and how much they choose to avoid those topics and agree to disagree. I definitely have friends/coworkers where we have an unspoken agreement to not bring up those topics with each other because we know it will just start an argument.
I cringe at the thought of any of them doing meet and greets without being vaccinated or at least masked. With anyone else, I'm at the point where I'm just like, "Eh... Darwinism. If you die of Covid because you're too stupid or too stubborn to get the vaccine, that's on you." But that thinking does not apply to my Boys. I hope they're all fully vaccinated by November because I doubt all the fans who go breathing all over them will be.
-
Right? I feel like one of them would make a rule about that so Kevin and Brian didn't argue relentlessly. I feel like AJ would be the most uncomfortable with the whole thing.
Nick's been doing them without it apparently, so he clearly thinks he has an immune system of steel. Maybe he does at this point. I hope they do too, COVID easily shuts down sports teams and could shut down a residency/tour. I think in general that they're young enough (and probably healthy enough) that they wouldn't die, but who wants to take that risk!
-
I thought for sure to be on the Masked Singer he would’ve had to be vaccinated. Did he say he just got the shot or something? I must have missed that.
-
The vaccine wasn't available yet when he was on Masked Singer; they filmed that last August. He said he just had to get tested like every day. He posted a picture today of getting the Moderna vaccine - I'm assuming his first shot since he hasn't posted anything about it before, but it could be his second.
-
I'm catching up on the promo the boys did last week for the Christmas residency and had to share the link to the Access Hollywood interview they did all together in person. If you haven't watched this, do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqeeIR_RUns&ab_channel=Access It makes my heart so happy to see them all together again!
-
They damn well better be by then. Apparently I risked the hybrid of Covid Nick Plague in June but miraculously avoided it!
-
Glad you lived. Mutations are never fun!
-
They not gonna be able to enter in Canada if they not receive the vaccine!
-
All the more reason for them to get it! Hopefully Howie and Brian have or are planning to and just haven't posted about it.
-
I hope because they gonna need to refund everyone if they don’t do the two show in Quebec
-
They will give refunds if they have to cancel. I think they will do whatever it takes to go on with the tour, though. They wouldn't have rescheduled it twice if they didn't want to.
-
I know, but right now Canada didn’t let people without the vaccine enter in the country
-
Pretty sure fiscally minded Brian would set aside political beliefs to do his job and keep living his lifestyle (or Leighanne's, whatever, lol). If countries are requiring it for entry, it absolutely seems like a no-brainer for the Boys, especially since live events are the vast majority of what they earn money from these days what with earnings from albums being increasingly minuscule in a digital world and most of any licensing residuals going to people like Max Martin instead of the Boys.
Heck, maybe Kevin kidnapped him and dragged him to a Walgreen's or something while they were all in LA, lol.
Regardless, stay positive! The tour's not for another year anyway! :) (We're keeping positive thoughts over here in Dee land that all is well in a year.)
-
I’m pretty sure by the time the guys get to Canada, they’ll be allowed in. The are slowly opening their borders. The Blue Jays have just left Buffalo to go back home, much to the chagrin of everyone here.
I really think they should just start fining anyone who is having concerts, events etc… if they aren’t vaccinated. I love what the NFL is doing. It’s the only time I will ever use the word love and NFL in the same sentence.
-
Canada border not gonna open as the same time because each province has its own bubble right now and Quebec gonna open its border only in september.
-
Agreed on all points! We still have another year until the tour resumes, so hopefully borders will be open and the Covid outlook will be better by then. Of course, we said that last summer too. At least we have vaccines now. We just need more of the population to take them.
I'm all for having some sort of vaccine passport and restricting travel and attendance at large events for people who are eligible to get the vaccine and refuse to do so. There should be a medical exemption for people who medically cannot, but that's a small percentage of the population. We can't force people to get vaccinated, but we can make it really inconvenient for those who choose not to. Freedom is not without its consequences.
-
I do a little work with vaccine logging and most of the medical exemptions have to do with allergic reactions, I think? But that's all the more reason to get vaccinated if you can, to truly protect the people who can't. That being said, I can understand why some people are hesitant with the COVID vaccines, since they're so new and the disease is so new, but I still think getting a vaccine is way better than getting (or giving someone else) COVID. But vaccines in general? All for them. Like, why are we letting measles make a comeback? I just don't get it. I'm all for this inconveniencin g people. Let's pettily passive agressive them into getting vaccinated, lol.
I think it's good that each province in Canada is being allowed the opportunity to reopen at a rate they're comfortable with. I think as we see more vaccinations, more things will open up.
On a Backstreet note, I caught up on an article from a few days ago and the end was Howie and AJ bantering back and forth; I laughed so hard. Anyone else read this one? https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/the-backstreet-boys-christmas-album-tour-new-music (https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/the-backstreet-boys-christmas-album-tour-new-music)
-
Yep, having had allergic reactions to vaccines in the past is a perfectly logical reason to be hesitant about getting this one. I could also understand people being hesitant when the vaccine first came out because it was so new and had been produced so quickly, but now that so many people have been vaccinated with such a small percentage of major side effects, I don't think that's a good excuse anymore. But it's hard to counteract all the misinformation that's been spread out there, especially when a significant percentage of the population doesn't believe in science or trust mainstream media. Ignorance is a pandemic that's even more frightening than Covid.
Cute article! I love their banter and them talking about how BSB was their first marriage. That's so cute. Seeing them talk about how much they love each other makes my little fangirl heart happy.
-

YES.

I did like them describing it as a marriage, lol. They're not wrong.
I do love every time they discuss their love for each other. :) It just feels so genuine and delightful. Like hugs from a pile of puppies, lol.

I have completely run out of patience when it comes to vaccine hesitancy. I understood at the very beginning because none of us knew what to expect, but now there’s no reason for it! I’m so tired of seeing news stories of jackasses who thought the whole COVID thing was a hoax and just before they’re put on respirators they ask the doctor for a shot. Ugh!!
They don’t get that they’re the reason this virus isn’t going away.
-
That article was cute. Somehow I do see Howie always giving AJ coal. I don't know why.

Pretty sure they're right that the vaccine won't do anything... if you wait until you're on a respirator to get it, lol.
That article was cute. Somehow I do see Howie always giving AJ coal. I don't know why.
It's because AJ's always been "dis[ing] him like that." lol How dare AJ remind him that he can cook for himself! Coal forever!
-
Just wanted to wish Howie the happiest of birthdays before the day ends! Hope it was lovely!
-
I hope so too! Happy birthday, Howie!
-
Speaking of birthdays, I'm writing a scene where the guys (well, just Nick, AJ, and Kevin) sing Happy Birthday, and I'm trying to figure out who usually sings the lower part when they sing it in harmony, Kevin or AJ. I've watched a bunch of videos and can't tell for sure. Maybe a musician's ears can hear the harmonies better. Mare?
Here are a few examples:

Have you see Brian on ET tonight? It’s was a very long time that I didn’t see him smile like that.
I post a new fanfic on archive of our own If you want to read it! My name on it is: shane20

My husband's niece nearly died last week due to covid. She's not had the vaccine because she didn't want to take the risk due to being pregnant. She let people stay at her house, one of which had covid and she ended up catching it. She had to have her baby 7 weeks early and very nearly ended up in an induced coma and on a respirator because her heart and lungs were failing. Luckily both her and the baby are slowly improving.
So anyone who thinks they won't get it bad because they are young, think again! She is only 25 and nearly died.
-
How scary!! :( I'm glad to hear she and the baby are starting to improve. I hope things continue to go in the right direction.
-
Yikes! That is scary. I’m glad they’re improving.
-
OMG that's terrifying!
So I went to all 4 After Party shows in Vegas and it was in a few ways scary. Cause Delta is real in a way it wasn't in June. But a majority kept their masks on, everyone I was with was vaxxed and masked and we were all smart about it. I tested before and after cause my work friend can't get fully vaccinated (bad allergic reaction to her 1st shot) and I wanted to protect her. I came up clean. I feel pretty good about events if they're done right. Starting October 4th you'll have to have a negative test or vaccination proof to attend any concerts done through LiveNation. So that means all the BSB Christmas shows which is comforting as I have pit for a few of those.
I'd probably not go if my dad was still around, to keep him safe. But as it's just me I don't mind small risks. I saw friends I hadn't seen since 2019 and it did wonders after the year I've had.
I'm all for vaccination passports. Don't want to get vaccinated (barring valid medical reasons of course) well, choices have consequences.
-
That's so scary! I'm glad they're improving!
I'm glad concerts are requiring it. Now I wish more sporting events would too.
-
Agreed! All Raiders home games will here but our hockey team isn't and people are angry. Especially cause Vegas is more of a hockey town than a football town.
Dude Nick is back to teasing solo music, saying October and happy birthday to me if he comes through lol.
-
That would be exciting! A Nick album in October, a Christmas album in November?!
I support all the mandates. The Trumpster teachers I work with are furious because, starting next week, they either have to be vaccinated or get tested weekly on their own time in order to continue working. The more inconvenient it is to be unvaccinated, the more people will cave and get it so they can continue to make money and spend it doing fun things... that, or they'll just move to Texas or Florida and at least make things better in the rest of the country. I do feel bad for the sane citizens of Texas and Florida though. It's easy to threaten to move - not as easy to actually uproot yourself and do it.
-
It's interesting that Vegas is a hockey town. Didn't the Knights not exist until a couple years ago? I remember we did an alumni event at an Avs/Knights game maybe 2018? (I googled and they formed in 2017, but they've also been like the Avs were back in 1995, so I guess I believe it. This is basically your chance to give me a rundown on the history of Vegas and hockey.) Funny story about the Knights, hubs and I were watching a game and he saw the marching band/showgirls and was really confused why they'd have that at a hockey game, since we only have the ice girls. Obviously, I was like "Um, it's Vegas. I would absolutely expect them to have a marching band/showgirls at their hockey games." lol
I'm stoked. Nick music October, Christmas album November, keep 'em coming, Boys!
Yeah, there's a couple of those at my school too. I think a week or two ago was when they had to have their first shots to meet the "two weeks past" part of the September 30th deadline for employment; weekly testing isn't even an option. And it's sad that "not being able to do stuff" will win out over "protecting the students you work with who are too young to get vaccinated."
-
I don’t understand how not every single school everywhere aren’t requiring vaccines. It should be a no brainer. Those and all healthcare professionals. There was a mandatory vaccine mandate for all the Bills games but now they’ve changed it to mandatory masks instead. Probably because so many stupid players are refusing to get vaccinated. Stupid people are the worst. All these people who refuse to get a vaccine should have to relocate to either Texas or Florida. Might as well contain the stupid and evil all in one place.
-
And watch in horror as everyone dies and real estate becomes really cheap. Time to get beachfront property! ;)
I wish it was more of a mix of both. The state's requiring "high risk employees" to get vaccinated (schools, health care, etcetera), but then there's all those people out there that are not working in schools or health care that aren't even required to wear masks, let alone get vaccinated. It's weird and a little infuriating.
My alma mater is doing "masks required inside, encouraged outside" at the stadium and I just don't get it. Thankfully, the section we sit in has always been socially distanced even in a good year, lol.
-
Yes! Thinning the herd!! They really should make vaccines completely mandatory for everyone. Make it hard as possible for all the morons to do anything at all without proof of vaccination.
-
Especially now that the Pfizer vaccine is FDA approved. And then you have all those crazy people that think taking horse medicines is somehow better. That's been weird to read about.
Edited to add: I guess this conversation falls under the "and more" part of this thread, lol.
-
And also the Backstreet Boys need to be protected. There ya go! lol
-
LOL! It's like six degrees of Kevin Bacon... How do we bring the "and more" topics back to the Boys?
-
And it's sad that "not being able to do stuff" will win out over "protecting the students you work with who are too young to get vaccinated."
I agree, but these are the same people who think we should "protect" our children by NOT making them wear masks because masks are harmful to their health and education and NOT giving them the vaccine when they're eligible because of the horrible side effects. 🙄 Until we can agree on the same set of basic facts and reputable sources of information, there's no reasoning with these people.
I agree with everything you and Mare said in this thread! Including protecting the Boys! Yay Backstreet Boys!
-
I don't think there's reasoning with these people anyway. Most of whom are fully vaccinated to this point.
-

Nope their first year as a team was 2017. Vegas didn't get to have major league sports as a rule cause of the sports books and gambling so it took ages for that to change. Once the Golden Knights happened it's like a damn broke cause we're getting them left and right. Raiders followed and now there's talk of an NBA team LOL. The Knights though have a special place in most locals' hearts though cause they were the first, they were a new team created for us, and the Vegas Massacre. After the Route 50 shooting the team was some of the first to be line to donate blood and they did tributes to the people who died not to mention helped raise money. People didn't forget that. Then they made it to the Stanley Cup in year one, so even though they didn't win they had a very memorable start.
And of course Vegas is very extra about everything so we go balls to the wall for our hockey team lmao. But yeah some thought we'd be that way about the Raiders but no. The Knights were the first major sport to break through here so hockey it is.
-
Also the Raiders suck. Doesn't matter where they move them, lol.
I think we're Broncos nation more than any of the others, but all the sports have their diehards. Like Nick about the Bucs, but on a state-wide scale, lol. (There, I brought it back to the Boys.)
-
Did you see what Brian say in the last interview?!
-
Nope, what did he say?
-

-
I liked that article, I thought it was cute.
I'd believe that at least one of them would have had skin cancer to some degree. It's very common (the American Academy of Dermatology says 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime and about 9,500 people are diagnosed with it every day. Here's their website (https://www.aad.org/media/stats-skin-cancer#:~:text=Incidence%20rates,cancer%20in%20the%20United%20States.&text=Current%20estimates%20are%20that%20one,skin%20cancer%20in%20their%20lifetime.&text=It%20is%20estimated%20that%20approximately,with%20skin%20cancer%20every%20day.) with more info.) But the good news is, it's fairly easy to treat as long as it doesn't become melanoma, which it sounds like it didn't. The takeaway here is that Baz Luhrman was right: wear sunscreen.
I also felt called out by Nick's advice: "And maybe drink a little more water." You're right, Nick. Being hydrated is good for all your organs. Hubs couldn't convince me, but maybe this is the kick I needed.
I was a little sad the article did not include photos from shoots they discussed, because the disco ball one was awesome.
Also, why are none of us discussing Howie comparing himself to a grape? I laughed so hard I choked on a carrot. Real talk though, he clearly knows what he's doing -- all the smiling and winking he does and nary a wrinkle!
-
Howie is spot on! He has aged the best of them all; he has only gotten better looking over time.
Good advice from Nick and the other guys as well. I'm glad Brian has learned to wear sunscreen, albeit the hard way. I've been saying that for years looking at his selfies! He is still hot, but his face and skin wouldn't be so weathered-looking if he'd been better about wearing sunscreen. I'm glad he got the skin cancer removed and am assuming it wasn't anything more serious like melanoma, or he would have made a bigger deal about it. But yes, Brian, wear sunscreen and moisturizer!
All in all, that was a cute article!
-
You're totally right on both Howie and Brian.
So, everyone, if you're not already wearing sunscreen, using moisturizer, or drinking water, let's start a support group for each other and our skin! Does LaCroix count as water? Asking for a friend.
-
You're in luck, Dee! This site says sparkling water counts as water, as long as it's not the stuff with lots of sugar. https://www.houstonmethodist.org/blog/articles/2019/oct/can-sparkling-water-replace-regular-water/ Other top Google results say the same thing.
-
Phew! I'm only slightly garbage health-wise! Cheers!
Which Backstreet Boy drinks the most sparkling water?
-
I hate water 😖 I have to force myself to drink it. I live on seltzer. Love the stuff.
I’m assuming the article was beauty tips. I can’t even get myself motivated to read articles anymore lol 😞 sometimes I hate me.
-
Phew! I'm only slightly garbage health-wise! Cheers!
Which Backstreet Boy drinks the most sparkling water?
My money's on Nick lol
-
Water's not my favorite either, Mare. But I drank a water bottle and a half today, so... motivated! It was beauty tips. We'll let you know when the article is noteworthy.
You're probably right, Rose. Nick probably drinks it in a fancy wine glass.
-
Good job Dee! I force myself to drink 24 oz of water a day. I know it should be 32 but what can I say? I’m a rebel! 🤷♀️
-
I'm also more on the 25 oz end than the 30-40 oz end. I've recently told myself to drink at least one whole bottle's worth of my Swell water bottle. It seems to be going okay.

-
Had to squeeze in a happy birthday to our dear Kevin! Hope your day was great! (because you read fanfic forums.)
-
Brian is the only one who didn’t post anything for Kevin’s birthday.
-
Brian is weird that way. He likes to post about stuff that no one cares about (like asking for prayers for his ignorant mother-in-law), but won't post when we want him to (like about the other Boys' birthdays). I'm sure he did wish Kevin a happy birthday privately though. His brother made a nice post on Instagram with cute baby pics! https://www.instagram.com/p/CUkmczogb4EUm7VWbzDcdgCKTlqLXTf6dE-gcU0/
-
It's a conspiracy! Brian is still mad at Kevin for calling him out on Twitter for being crazy!
I'm mostly kidding, lol.
-
LOL I'm sure some people really think that! Because if Brian didn't say it publicly, it didn't happen. 🙄
-
What are these lies about things being able to happen in private? lol Obviously something only happens if we can document it.
-
Yeah I don't take stock in social media wishes. He could just call him lol.
-
What's this calling thing you speak of? You can only communicate with people via text.
lol
I'll stop. I'm just being a dick on purpose. But I agree, I know my friends actually want to tell me something when they tell me via personal contact and not social media.
-
In case you missed it, Brian did wish Kevin a happy birthday on Instagram and went to his surprise party in Kansas City! So did AJ and Howie - see AJ's TikTok for a couple videos. No sign of Nick, but it still made my heart happy to see 4/5 of them together!
Also, how cute was their football parody of "We Are the World"?!
-
Well, now we know why Nick wasn't at Kevin's party. He's been sick! If you watched his Instagram video from this morning, he sounds terrible! He said he had a bad cold (not Covid), lost his voice, and spent three days in bed, but is feeling better now. Poor thing!
Edit: The last two minutes of that video were freaking hilarious! Even if you don't watch the whole thing, watch the end!
-
I thought maybe his dislike of the Chiefs had outweighed his love of Kevin lol
-
LMAO! He could have just gone in his red Bucs jersey. I figured he must have had a good reason not to go, and being sick during a pandemic is a pretty good reason.
-
Agreed. I hope they do mail him one of those Kevin face masks though.
-
I love so much the picture with Brian and Kevin together! They are so cute together!
-
I hope they wear the Kevin masks on tour. Or make ones for all of them. They were hilarious!
Nick needs to wash his hands more.
-
The masks were awesome!! I hope they do give Nick one. I loved the pics and videos of the guys together! So cute!
-
This is a cute interview Nick did: https://www.parents.com/parenting/celebrity-parents/backstreet-boys-nick-carter-talks-finding-festive-family-joy-as-a-father-of-three/
I especially loved this part:
How did watching your bandmates become parents further shape your views on parenting?
They're four brothers, who have been incredible influences and I'm forever grateful to them for showing me what true happiness is—whether that's from their parenting or upbringings. Seeing them with their children on the road or how they celebrate the holidays, I've adopted those fundamentals because they're incredible fathers and I'm proud to be their little brother.
-
Well, the Boys posted, "It’s 2022! There’s nothing stopping us now! Get ready for the most epic BSB filled year yet!!!! #DNAWorldTour HERE WE COME!!!!!!!" I wish I had more faith in them, but I really hope they are right and we'll finally get to see them on the road again soon! And hopefully this time next year, we'll still be listening to new BSB Christmas music. C'mon, Boys... make it happen!
-
I hope they come back on tour, but right now in Canada every concert hall are close because of covid. Brian gonna need time to heal his knee.
-
Brian has plenty of time to recover; I'm sure his knee will be fully healed by summer. This is the guy who went back to performing two months after open heart surgery! He'll be fine. I just hope he's been vaxxed.
As for Covid... that's the part that worries me. But the way scientists are talking about it now, the attitude is changing from "we must stop Covid" to "we must learn to live with Covid." So think we're going to see more concerts and events go on as planned but with restrictions, like masking and mandatory vaccinations and/or testing. I'm fine with that. I'll do whatever it takes to see them live again.
-
Right now in Quebec we are in lockdown and the covid cases are out of control.
-
I do hope you all get to see the DNA tour this year. I can't believe it was June 2019 that I saw the show, it was amazing!

I'm feeling more confident that it will actually happen this year. I saw they're going to appear on the Kelly Clarkson show this spring, so something must be in the works. Hopefully more European dates are on the way, too!

Even though I saw the DNA show back in 2019, when I saw they were coming back to the UK I couldn't resist booking. So I'm seeing them in November in Manchester and can't wait!
Have you seen the show over there yet?

Yay! 2019 was so long ago, you deserve to see them again! The DNA show is so fantastic. I went to one of the kick-off shows in Vegas in April, and then I ended up seeing them four times in July... two planned shows that I'd had tickets for since 2020, and two spontaneous shows that I bought tickets for the day of or day before LOL. I was so afraid one of them was going to get Covid and have to cancel a show, I ended up going to every show within a 4-hour drive, and I have no regrets!

Wow, that's amazing! And after waiting so long to see them, why not treat yourself :) I'd certainly do it if I could
