Title: AC District Court
Post by: julilly on January 13, 2011, 10:24:13 AM
The following people are doing time in AC prison on charges of rule breaking.

If you find your name on this list feel free to send either myself or Mare a PM and we will be happy to answer your questions. Please refer to the rules list first though because we will only refer you back to it if your question has already been answered. Older sentences will be left up as a reference point for the moderators.

I'm sorry but I really hate that this is listed here. I know it is embarrassing for myself. I do not think it is my nor anyone else s business as to who broke the rules. It's almost like allowing people to laugh and poke fun.... oh look who broke the rules... ha ha ha.... I really wish you would take this down or block it so only mods can see it.

and fyi: My yorkielover account was not the one that was locked out. Annabelle and I's Christi-lynn one was.

Crappy part about it is that it caused me to loose interest in one of the stories on there.

I dont' want to get myself in trouble here but I thought in all the warnings you said people would be notified via PM if they were breaking rules? Was a public list for everyone to see  necessary?

I honestly don't mind that it's here. It's kind of like if you went into a store and stole a dollar worth of candy and you get caught. Your name is going to show up in the police reports in the newspaper for, yes, stealing a dollar worth of candy.

And sadly, I've seen that happen. LMAO

and what is the point behind it? Letting people laugh at someone else s misfortune? Making the accidental rule breaker look like a giant dumb ass? It really hurts my feelings! Had I broken the rule on purpose or done something like Tanja I'd say go for it! Other wise it's no ones business but my own!

I think it's so we can hold the mods accountable. This way no one can claim unfair treatment if it's here for everyone to see.

Honestly if you follow the rules it's not a problem.

Rose, It's embarrassing for those who are listed. Of course you would see no problem considering your name is not listed here for the entire fucking world to see! I did not purposely break any rules so why make me feel even worse then I already did when it was brought to my attention that I had done something wrong!

More motivation for you not to break them then.

If Julilly is going to start listing people, she needs to be fair and list yours too. Not just start with Mariah. And it's not like people don't know, because when it happened you ranted in one of the debate threads.

Why do you keep saying "its not like I broke the rules on purpose" what does that mean? Why would you deliberately break rules? That doesn't make sense to me. The reason this list is here is to remind people not to break the rules, they are here for a reason and not to single people out.
Title: Re: AC District Court
Post by: Rose on January 13, 2011, 07:20:03 PM
Exactly, this is just a record of who's broken the rules, the punishment, and so that way it's as fair as possible.

You don't break them, it's not an issue. If it's that upsetting, well then, you don't have to post here. You know?
Title: Re: AC District Court

Exactly Rose. I don't know why its so offensive. Its to give you more a reason NOT to break rules lol geez

I don't think mariah deserves to be listed here either! It might not be intended to single people out but it does! It hurts my feelings! There are new people here who did not see me loose it over the unfair locking of my account! Those People have no Buisness knowing my mistakes! It should be between me and mods not all of you!

We are all humans here! We all are able to feel pain! Let's consider each others feelings! I would not do something to purposely hurt any of you alls feelings! Why would you do something to hurt mine or anyOne elses! This site should be about fun! Not about competions and hurting peoples feelings!

I agree with yorkielover88 and Sapphire. I can understand why you would want to make it public so that the rule breakers won't do it again but at the same time, it's a invasion of privacy! I don't mean to offend you or tell you how to run your site but this isn't right to put it on public display like that....You need to send the nofitiation by PM or if you post on here, if its possible, make it visible that only the ones in trouble can view but for everyone to view it? Thats just mean...and it not only embarrasses people, it also humiliate them too. Please and try and look at it from the authors point of view.
You wouldn't want people airing your dirty laundry would you? So to speak...
Again sorry if you get offended or you think I'm trying to tell you what to do, I'm just offering my opinion.

This is no different than the ban log they used over at LD and other places to let you know who is breaking rules and the consequences. And I do think the reason Jullily put it up was to let people know we are holding people accountable for their actions on the site. It's one thing to say we're enforcing the rules but it's another to actually do it. This thread wasn't made just to make fun of people.

Personally I think it's a great idea and remember, you wouldn't be so upset about it, if you followed the rules in the first place. That in itself is showing me it's a good idea.
Title: Re: AC District Court

First off, it's not an invasion of privacy. Anyone who looked at the most recent page that day would be able to see the broken rule, and the fact that J-Lynn talked about it quite extensively in the debate thread made it quite public. I apologize for getting the wrong username, since it was mostly the yorkie account that was commenting on it I had them mixed up. It was Mare that had dealt with that.

When we were sending PMs to people, sending emails to them, making everything incredibly private we were ignored by many people. We said back in November that we were done chasing people around, and that still applies.

We're all adults here, no one is going to be laughing at anyone over posting too many times in one day. That's just silly. If I broke a rule my name would be on there too.

I can't make it visible just for the people in trouble because the point is 1. it means Mare and I don't have to chase anyone, and 2. here is the proof for those that wonder whether the rules are enforced fairly and for everyone that they indeed are.

J-Lynn, you accused both Mare and I of singling you out, of a personal vendetta against you. It's those kinds of accusations that have led to this. No longer can you say we singled you out because here will be the proof that there are other people on this board that, just like you, are human and make mistakes from time to time and everyone is treated fairly. A broken rule is a broken rule no matter who you are. No one cares as much as you think they do, I assure you.

Exactly, and lord knows how many times I got listed in the ban log on LD. This is just to show the mods are being fair. It's not to hurt anyone's feelings, and people are taking it too personal. This is just a record to show the rules are being enforced, and to keep you guys accountable as well by posting what you're doing.

Okay, I can understand that. I just didn't see it in that way and it makes sense to do it that way, it kind of sucks that its come to that but perfectly understandable .
I agree with both of you. It's really the only way. And I follow the rules...or at least I try to. I'm only writing the one story right now and thats coming slow...so I'm good! :)

I don't understand what the fuss is about. You break a rule, your name gets listed. It's not the end of the world. It'll remind you to pay better attention to the rules next time plus it helps ease some of the load off of the mods shoulders.

Ha, its kinda like being fan fiction black-listed. I don't mind it. lol Its just a week. Though its sort of ironic I got banned for spamming yet, I was listed in this thread as well as PMd. Kinda interesting. Though just to clarify, I didn't steal anything. Just posted my story a lot. lol

It just adds to your street cred, is all.

I completely agree. If you think you're being singled out or attacked that is ridiculous. Spamming most recent is very unfair to other people on AC who want their updates to be seen. If you have a problem with the rules just don't post. Don't blame other people for your mistakes and drag everyone into it.

There's no such thing as being banned for life for speaking your mind.

First, I am not your sweetie, nor do I appreciate pet names. Second, we had nothing to do with you losing interest in your own story. Blame us all you want but having your account locked for a week (which wasn't even a whole week by the way) was your own fault. I didn't post four stories for you, Mare didn't post them for you either, you posted them. You broke the rule. Take some responsibility for it.

Everyone else is just as entitled to their own opinions as you are to yours. So unless you plan on not voicing your opinions then you'd best accept that everyone else on this forum is allowed to say theirs. It's not for you to tell them to keep their thoughts to themselves.

You came into this thread SO concerned that you were being embarassed or singled out but all you're doing right now is drawing attention to yourself.

I read the rules when I first started posting stories, even asked how many is considered spamming. If by some chance I do something that gets me on "vacation," then so be it.

Do the crime. Do the time.

I agree, if you can't do the time then don't do the crime!!

I'd have no problem with my name being up here for all to see if I broke the rules.  We should all know the rules, so it's only fair to accept the punishment for breaking them.

I don't think you should take it too seriously J-Lynn, it's only a few days :)  No one is laughing at you or singling you out.

If I'd be listed, I'd be pissed at myself, not at the mods! If these rules weren't there or if they were there but the mods couldn't care less to check if they were being followed, it would be a mess! There are rules everywhere and if you break them, you get punished, although I don't even see this list as a punishment. It's just a reminder to follow that rule. I don't see the big deal, really.

The rest of you can keep your thoughts to yourself!

Excuse me? Just because of this...I think I WILL state my thoughts!

First of all...are you that much better than the rest of us, that your opinion and little temper tantrum are all that matters, and no one else may speak? Guess what "sweetie"...embarrassme nt is a really damn good way of making sure people get the point. My child threw a fit in the store...and I made sure she got embarrassed... REALLY embarrassed... made sure people all over were staring right at us! Now...my child does not throw fits like that anymore because she learned her lesson and doesn't like to get that kind of attention.

If people (maybe you, or maybe not) are ignoring the mods...what the hell are the mods supposed to do? Let the rule breakers walk all over them? NO! This is a surefire way to make sure that people listen....not some kind of twisted vendetta against you. I doubt our mods are just so incredibly jealous of you, that they have to scheme up some ridiculous plot to embarrass you. I really think it's just finally come to this, because people won't listen. Personally, I don't want to be embarrassed... .so I'll check FOUR times now, to make sure my crap stays within the guidelines of the rules.

The mods are not here to play favorites. It doesn't matter who you are or what you did...if you did it, you're guilty and you'll be called out...simple as that. The mods have had to deal with a lot of crap...people stuffing the Felix ballot box...continuo usly breaking the same rules over and over again...just plain disrespecting their authority which was given to them by the SITE'S OWNER....OBVIO USLY their previous forms of punishment were not working for certain people...so now EVERYONE has to be subject to the new form of punishment.

And although I've never been punished for breaking a rule on the site...Julilly HAS called me out MORE THAN ONCE...for hijacking threads and things like that, here on the board. So yeah...I've been in trouble too. All of us make mistakes. It's not THAT big of a deal.
Title: Re: AC District Court
Post by: alota_cookin on January 14, 2011, 10:01:03 AM
I should clarify that "so I'll check FOUR times now" was because I always triple check everything before I post, to make sure it meets the rules. But now because of this...I'll probably check that extra time. LOL. I hate getting in trouble.
Title: Re: AC District Court

It's not like you can't work on your stories because you've been banned for a couple of days. You can write til your heart is content, you just can't post it.

Personally, I wouldn't get upset because my name was on there. I would deal with my punishment. In my classroom if you misbehave your name goes on the board. You get a tally mark each time you don't follow a rule. Each tally is 1 minute of recess. Some kids learn very fast that they don't want their name on the board and start to follow the rules. It works.

Just follow the rules, it makes life easier.

I just find it so funny that only ONE person is bitching and everybody else is agreeing that this is ridiculous to be throwing a fit because you got in trouble. Seriously, you aren't better than any of us...attacking the mods isn't gonna do anything LOL
Title: Re: AC District Court

I locked this topic because really, it's not worth arguing over. It is what it is, and 99% of people seem to not have an issue.

Anyone whose account gets locked will go up in the first post of this thread as a way of letting them know why it's locked and when it will be unlocked.

It's not to embarass anyone, it's not a public flogging, it's a source of information. We're all grown ups and I'd like to believe that we can avoid taking something this miniscule personally.

Everyone on this board is treated the same way. Everyone comes under the same rules and is held accountable in the same way.

Besides, there are way worse mods out there, you guys got lucky. :) Thank you for your time and support.

* Please be aware if your name appears on ANY story on the most recent page it counts. Don't let a Red Robin or any other story you might co-author make you end up in here! It counts if you add your chapter on and then post two other times on the same day.
