I just hope it's as good as the book! That's the only worry when books are turned into movies, but it looks good from the trailer :)

Who's seen the movie?  What did you think?  I liked it!  It was a lot like what I pictured as I read the book.  I've only read the first book once, last summer, so I wasn't picky about small parts they left out, but I was surprised at what they left out of the ending.  The first thing I did when I got home was grab my book off the shelf and reread the ending to make sure I wasn't crazy about certain things I remembered that weren't addressed in the movie.

*SPOILER*
Like the "mutts"??  They were just big, black, bear-like dogs in the movie, and the whole time, I was going, "Um, weren't these, like, all the dead tributes in the book??"  That was never mentioned, and they didn't look like the tributes; they all looked the same.  I haven't read the other two books yet, so I dunno, maybe that wasn't an important plot point in the overall series, but that seemed like a pretty major revelation to skip over in this one.

Also I was going, "Pretty sure the medicine didn't miraculously heal Peeta's leg..." LOL.  But other than that, it seemed to stick pretty closely to the book, and I enjoyed it.  I finally picked up Catching Fire and Mockingjay on my way home so I can read the rest of the series.

I saw it last night and loved it!  I thought it stuck pretty close to the book, apart from the bits you mentioned Julie.

I really liked the characters too, they are just how I imagined them to be.  The Rue part had a couple of people in the cinema crying, as I thought it would.

Yay!  I picked up Catching Fire and Mockingjay on my way home from the movie yesterday and am already halfway through Catching Fire... can't put it down!!  Finally pulled myself apart from it so I can get something done.

Lore, I booked in advance too because I thought it would be sold out.

Julie, I was the same when I was reading them, couldn't put the book down.  I might have to read again :)

I just finished Catching Fire already.  I liked it even more than The Hunger Games.  It would be nice to save Mockingjay for spring break next week, but I don't think I can wait!

I loved the second book too, the third wasn't as good in my opinion but still really enjoyed it.  I bet you'll have read it before your spring break :)

Same here. I'll be curious to see what you think of the third book. I felt like it was a rush job.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of people say they didn't like the 3rd one.  I'm like halfway through it.  So far so good, but it does seem like they have a lot of ground to cover before it can wrap up.
