So has anyone else seen the movie yet?  I saw it this afternoon, and it was PERFECT!  It followed the book as closely as it could without turning into a four hour movie.  Minor characters and a few unimportant scenes were cut out, but everything important and memorable was there, and much of the dialogue was word for word right out of the book.  I take back what I said about Shailene Woodley; she played Hazel very well, and Ansel Elgort was absolutely Augustus!  As far as movie adaptations that follow the book without falling short go, this one was probably the best I've ever seen!

I am really happy to hear that. I plan on seeing it if I can find someone to go with me.

I know! That's why I want to make sure I see it before it leaves the theaters. No one wants to see it. Everyone thinks its going to be too sad. Wimps!

I actually didn't cry as much as I thought I would!  I don't know why.  Maybe it was just that I knew what was coming and had been reading the book, so I'd already gotten it out of my system?  I did cry, but I wasn't a blubbering mess for the whole second half of the movie like I thought I'd be.

Interestingly enough, I mentioned in class the other day that I saw this movie and loved it, and my professor was surprised.  She saw it too after reading the book and didn't like it; she thought the characters were flat.  That's what I had worried about too, but I thought they both turned out pretty true to the book, especially Gus, and he was the one I was worried about most.  I thought Ansel Elgort played him just as charming as he is in the book.
