Revival of the Reading Challenge?
« on: June 26, 2021, 05:03:05 PM »

We've been chatting in the Writing Thread about reviving this one with a "things we've never read" (or at least in a long time) spin with some shades of discussing them like we used to do with featured stories. Figured I'd make a new thread so it didn't get lost in the long novels of discussion that is the Writing Threads. Anyone else interested in this besides Julie and I?

People think it would be fun to be a bird because you could fly. But they forget the negative side, which is the preening.

So Julie, it looks like about 100 people are waiting for us to choose a story, lol.

Like I said in the other thread, I'm pretty sure Tracy just reread Why I'd Do It All Again, so if we picked that one, she'd probably discuss it with us and then Mare could tell us if us reading it increased her traffic or anything (more significantly than just us reading it).

Or we take the crickets as a sign that people are not interested in this, lol.

I reread it at least once or twice a year, or when I’m feeling down and need a good laugh because there’s so many scenes that are so funny. I don’t want to give anything away until we actually discuss it, but there’s a couple that stick out LOL

Can't wait until Julie reads it!

What are our reading parameters? Are we doing this like a book club where everyone reads through a certain number of chapters and we drink wine while discussing? lol Or are we just giving ourselves a set amount of time to finish the whole thing?

Aww I’m flattered! You know I’ll answer any questions you may have about this one. It’ll help give me a boost too since I’ve been living down in the dumps for the better part of two years now lol

Aww, good!

What would everyone prefer?  If we have a deadline to finish the story by, I will probably give myself a minimum weekly reading goal anyway to make sure I finish in time.

You should be flattered! Can't wait for question answering and author chime ins.

I think some sort of deadline would be good for me too. But not so rigid that it feels like homework, so maybe a whole story deadline rather than a weekly goal. It feels less deadliney if I give myself mini goals.

Edited to add: I realize I didn't suggest a timeline. End of August?
