“Nicky! Quick, come look!” Peyton yelled.

Five year old Nick dropped his toy and ran out onto the deck of his family’s boat to where his best fried Peyton stood with her father.  “What’s wrong?”

“Look!” she pointed. “look!”

He looked around for a moment and then, “OH WOW! Mommy! Daddy, come look!”

Nick’s parents and Peyton’s mother came running.

“Look mommy! Dolphins!” both Peyton and Nick shouted.

“That’s great kids,” Bob, Nick’s father, began. “Why don’t you all come back inside, it’s time for lunch.”

At the mention of food both children forgot the dolphins and raced one another to the table.

Later that night, after Nick and Peyton had said good night to their parents and were settled in their room (the families were on a weekend-long sailing trip and Nick and Peyton’s siblings were too young to come along) they said good night to each other.

“Good night Peyton,” Nick said. “I love you.”

Peyton opened her mouth to reply but a yawn came out instead and she giggled. “ ’Night Nicky. Love you too.”
