This was a great chapter! I really enjoyed the silliness of it, and it shows your versatility as a writer that you can do both so well. Drunken 'Lyssa was hilarious, and I especially liked the last two paragraphs.

Date: 06/23/07 Title: Chapter 45: Chapter Forty-Four

Oooh! Ooh, ooh, ooooooh! That was a really good one. I'm not sure why I enjoyed this chapter even more so than usual, but I did.

Maybe it was the rational!Alyssa being shocked by her drunken spree. Maybe it was the fabulous, heart-racing awkwardness of the accidental "I love you." (Really, really loved that part!) Or maybe it was the dialog, which was so natural and familiar, even when Alyssa was being forced and overly cheerful.

I just don't know, but I loved this chapter and can't wait for the next one! :3

Author's Response: Those are all good reasons! I kind of felt bad for making Alyssa seem so trashy last chapter, so I thought it would be funny to have her shocked at her behavior the next morning. And the accidental I love you was kind of random, but I thought it fit really well because we all say things like that without thinking it and for her to say it to Nick it would be really strange. Thanks a lot and I hope to get down to it as soon as I can!

This chapter was just marvelous; I can see why it's your favorite! Nick's reaction to Kevin's news was so furious and real, and your writing was truly insightful into the way his mind must work.

I think this is also one of my favorites, as well. (Your writing just keeps getting better and better lately! What's your inspiration? You're really on a roll!)

Author's Response: LOl thanks a lot! I dunno what it is lately. Maybe its now that the summer is here I actually have time to write. Or maybe its that the end of this story is getting closer and closer. Or maybe its because I\'m actually getting to some of the really good parts that I\'ve been itching to write. Whatever it is, I\'m not complaining!

Nick was so sweet in this one, and everything has been going incredibly well between them... I can't help but think that you're setting us up for some major heartbreak. XD

And I keep wondering when/if Nick's past experience with Alyssa's sis will come up again.

Author's Response: Lol I know! With those two its like you\'re always holding your breath waiting for the other shoe to drop. I\'d say they are pretty safe... For now anyway.

And of course I haven\'t forgotten about the Nick/Stephanie relationship. That\'ll come up again in the next part of the story

Ohhhhhh man! Great chapter. At the beginning I was worried that Meg had come out of remission, so I was relieved that she's okay -- sad about the uncle, though. Then the entire scene with Alyssa doing her makeup was just so fresh and real; it was like being in the bathroom with a girlfriend while she's getting ready. Then when Nick realized he'd fallen for her again... I realy love how you wrote that scene! A great chapter on so many levels.

Author's Response: Thank you! Of course I intended at first for the reader to think that Meg had come out of remission, but she\'s okay! And there was something about Nick realizing he\'s in love with her while she\'s in the bathroom getting ready that just seemed so perfect to me and so \"them.\" I\'m glad you enjoyed it and I hope to have a new chapter out pretty soon!

Date: 08/15/07 Title: Chapter 50: Chapter Forty-Nine

Another great chapter! I can't believe how quickly that you crank 'em out but I'm not going to complain. The writing has been so wonderful lately, and this chapter was just icing on top of an already scrumptious cake.

The birthday flashback was really steamy but in a good, almost subtle way. I also liked Kevin and Nick's conversation, though now I'm paranoid that something bad is going to happen since Nick is putting off telling Alyssa his feelings. :O

I don't know what else to say, besides "You are amazing!"

Author's Response: I can\'t believe how quickly I\'ve been cranking them out either, but enjoy it while it lasts cuz when school starts again I can\'t promise anything. I\'m glad you liked the birthday flashback. I was quite pleased with it myself. I didn\'t want to go too far with it cuz lets just say there\'s room for at least one more steamy scene before the end of this story. *grins* Thanks for your review as always. Date: 08/17/07 Title: Chapter 51: Chapter Fifty

The end of that chapter was just so frustrating, even more so because it started out great. I really loved seeing Nick be mature and respectful and telling of his ass of a friend. I was all like, "Go, Nick!" And I like how he went to talk to Alyssa about it immediately; I don't know why. Maybe because they weren't sweeping the issue under the rug but discussing it like two reasonable people?

Tricia, Teri, and Alyssa all seem to have such a great time together! I'd be sad if one of the other girls ever broke up with AJ/Howie because it would be awkward for their emerging trio. Speaking of breaking up... Mark!

Argh, I'm stuck between wishing he is a just a red herring and being worried that Nick and Alyssa will have problems, sending her running to Mark's waiting arms. Erm, that was a joke! *Please* don't take any inspiration from that. I hope Mark was just here to add some tension to the chapter and highlight Nick's edginess with his newly rediscovered feelings, rather than become a recurring character. (OH NOES!)

I'm so jealous at how fast you turn them out. You are not human, I swear. *hearts*

Author's Response: LOl I can see it being frustrating, but they\'re frustrating lol. I could so see Nick pulling that stuff out of jealously too for some reason. I\'m glad you like Tricia, Teri, and Alyssa. It\'s kind of fun since they are a lot more open than a lot of Alyssa\'s other friends and as you can see they are really pulling her out of her shell. And Mark? Well, I don\'t want to give anything away but he won\'t exactly be recurring. His name might come up again though... I don\'t know how fast my next chapter will be out since I\'m working the next four days in a row :(

OMG! This chapter!!! YOU!!!

Wow, I don't know if I was more shocked from finally seeing some action (you totally psyched me out with that imaginary car sex scene, btw) or from Nick's total blunder. You are so awesome! I can't believe the awesome things you write.

Sorry, this is a spazzier review than usual but this chapter completely made me spazz out.

Author's Response: LOL Yea its been a while since there\'s been any on stage action so I figured I owed you all a scene. Funny you should mention the whole car part cuz originally that was my plan for the scene. To take place in the car. But after their lil fight last chapter it just didn\'t seem to fit, so it wound up not happening. As a compromise to myself though I included that lil fantasy part. Thanks for the review!

This chapter was so fun, I loved it!  I have to put in a little beta, though, and mention that strangely enough there are quite a few blondes in Japan.  O_O  The Japanese are really big about coloring their hair, and while most don't go all the way to the point of platinum, they're still pretty damn blonde.  Weird, huh?

I swear, I just read the previous chapter a day or so ago.  How do you crank them out so fast?  O_O

Thanks hun! Yea I was thinking about that cuz I see quite a few Asian's who do dye their hair. Personally I don't think it looks right. They have such gorgeous hair to begin with and blonde just doesn't look right, but... I think Nick was getting at that there aren't many "natural" blondes like the type he typically gets himself in trouble with lol.

I think I'm cranking them out fast because I'm SOOO close to being done already and I'm itching to start the sequel!

Oh.  My God.

 

I don't even have words for this chapter, except that I can't wait to read the next one and find out what happens.  How is Nick going to get out of this one?!  Oh, and thanks for that teaser about the past and Katie.  It seemed like that whole storyline disappeared off the face of the Earth, so it was nice to see it picked up again. 



Author's Response: I know! The Katie storyline is kind of hard to fit in, but it will contnue throughout the sequel. I think this is the last time I visit during this story. Sometimes the flashbacks aren't consistent because they are meant to parallel other events. Thanks for the review as always!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This chapter was so unbelievable -- as in unbelievably GOOD!!!  The fighting and hurtful words between Lyss and Nick were so well executed.  I don't know how they'll ever recover from this one, but I can't be upset because my adrenaline is still pumping.  You write some of the best argument scenes ever!

 And then when Teri and Alyssa were talking afterward, I was right there with Teri shouting, "You go, girl!"  Really great chapter!

Thanks for the HUGE compliment there! Usually I REALLY love arguements cuz they tend to flow easier, but this arguement actually took a lil longer and I think it was because at times I was afraid that I went too far. I mean you're right they did say some REALLY messed up things to each other in that chapter. Next chapter will be dealing with the aftermath the next morning.

Haha and I take it from the Teri comment that you're Team Alyssa, huh? lol

Oh, man.  This chapter has the best quote ever: “We could always blame Paris.”

 Seriously, though.  I think you pulled off their breakup so well!  And it never ceases to amuse me how Alyssa gets so heated in her arguments that she'll have seriously divulging conversations in front of strangers -- Amy's going to have so much fodder for the gossip mill!!!  XD

I also enjoyed how Teri put Nick on the spot and he proved her impression about him wrong.

And for some reason, the line “It’s all right. I need to burn off some anger” really appealed to me.

 
This was a great all-around chapter!  I had a feeling that things were going to turn out this way when you mentioned a sequel.  I'm glad that Nick told Alyssa again that he loves her, though I can't help but imagine everyone else in that diner staring at their exchange.  XD

Can't wait for the next one! 



Author's Response: Thanks!!! Yea of course I had to set the stage for the sequel *winks* I'm glad you enjoyed the way that I left things off with them. Yea, Alyssa can get pretty heated, but she's got a very strong Italian temper which I could tell you a lot about LOL. I'm impatient to tie this one up and start the sequel myself.

Mel!  Long time no see~ ♥  I disappeared off the face of the planet for a year when I moved to a new country for study abroad  ><  But I'm back now, discovered that you had written an ENTIRE new installment to Nick and Alyssa's story, and then proceeded to read the entire fic in about fourty-eight hours... right in the middle of finals (I'm so blaming you if I flunk out of college) :-*

Anyway, I'm sorry I didn't leave reviews as I read because now I can't recall every awesome scene that inspired a comment in my head.  But I can say that A Little Taste of Sin was absolutely brilliant.  I was filled with the most horrible dread (in a good, dramatic kind of way) to realize that cheating was the only way Nick and Lyssa could be together... I also laughed, burned with passion, cried SO hard.

You've grown so much since UMS and Nick and Alyssa have become much more rounded characters ♥ Can't wait to read the sequel... and this time I'll be here to read it chapter by chapter. =]

I am SOOOO sorry that I'm only responding to your review now! The holidays have been a VERY busy time for me and I haven't gotten to be online very often lately. I am SOOO glad that you are back and that you are still interested in reading my stuff. Thank you so much! That is right... You pretty much completely missed out on this story, so to go back and read the entire thing in 48 hours is crazy! Haha I hope that you did all right on your finals. I'm sorry if I made you do poorly lol.

I totally would not expect you to leave one review per chapter when you had so much to catch up on! You're right, A LOT went down in this one. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it yet. I am VERY proud of all the emotional stuff I was able to bring to this story and I really do feel that I've come so far from UMS as a writer. I am very glad that you can see the progression in my writing.

Your new one looks interesting so I will def check it out as soon as I can. Can we expect anymore On Nightingale Hill?
