lol Mare! I totally wanted to make a banner in crayon for "Dear Brian." Now, if you would only let me.....  :D

I use Adobe Photoshop CS3. If anyone's looking for a good free program to make banners, there's this awesome online image editor called Pixlr, which is very similar to Photoshop. I use it a lot for quick image editing jobs when I don't feel like loading up Adobe.

Photobucket has a nice image editing suite now too... I was using that before I was able to afford my CS5. :)

I use Paint.Net. It's free and pretty simple to use.

Out of curiosity... ( if I was a cat I'd be dead ) why do you dislike banners?

1)They take up unnecessary space on the main page and make things slow for people who do not have fast internet <-- this is the main reason.

2)They are completely meaningless and useless. If you just take the time to describe what your female lead looks like instead of looking for a perfect picture for hours, that should be good enough. And then when you do find that picture and call the person Chastity Prettyfacingto n and it's really Jennifer Aniston, i'm thinking that's Jennifer Aniston not Chastity Prettyfacingto n. lol

3)Too many people spend so much time worrying about their banners, they don't take the time to edit their stories

Those are the main three lol

True, it does make me laugh when the girl in the banner is like Scarlett Johansson or Ali Larter :D Though it's even worse, I think, we people insert themselves in the banner haha...

I used an actress from Doctor Who in my banner for When We Collide :)  I thought she was probably unknown enough, and she fits the image I had in my head of the main female character.
