On the rare occasion I mention writing around my parents, my mom always asks things like, "You're not still writing about the Backstreet Boys, are you?  When are you going to write a real book?"  If I ever did write a "real book," she would be my biggest supporter, but she just doesn't get the fanfic thing LOL.

My mom's asked me about the real book thing lol. She's understanding about the fanfic thing, cause she says I do it cause it feels safe. Which, she's right to an extent lol.

Yeah, there's a lot of truth to that.  There's no rejection in fanfic; anyone can post a story, and there will be a built-in audience for it.  Once you establish your reader base, it's comfortable, because you know you'll always have people who will read and appreciate your work.  But I don't think any of us would still be doing it if we didn't genuinely like writing about the Boys either, so meh, whatever!  I'll stay in my comfort zone as long as I feel like it.

Exactly lol. As long as I'm happy with it, I'm doing it.
