Looking for a good read!
« on: June 24, 2012, 09:56:13 PM »

Here is a thread for anyone looking for a good read. Sometimes there are a lot of great stories that are out there that may get overlooked because of a misleading banner or summary. Now is the chance to ask for some suggestions for a good read.

This is different from the reading challenge. You tell us what you want to read and we'll go from there with suggestions.

For instance, i'm looking for a good Nick centered story with the group. I'd prefer action/adventure or suspense but a drama would work as well. I'm not interested in a female lead AT ALL, but more of a brotherly dynamic within the group. The only stories that really hold my interest are when Nick is the lead, honestly. lol And for my own sanity, I would really love if it's already completed or it's by someone who is pretty reliable and known for finishing their stories once committed to it.

If anyone knows of anything that fits that mold, please let me know! :)

Everyone else, feel free to ask away!

Pretty sure you've already read all the stories I know of that fit your description, Mare.  A lot of them you wrote LOL.

I'm actually reading two stories at the moment (well, more than two if you count the others I'm just waiting for updates on), which is more fanfic than I've read in awhile, so I'm in pretty good shape, but I'm always up for a good medical drama if anyone knows of any I haven't read!

LOL That's really what this thread needs to be.  Kinda like that story auction thing...  Request the stories we'd like to see written!

It worked with Cinzia and Hannah's Brian heart surgery story, I might add!

Bwahaha.. I really did have Borrowed Time outlined already and like two chapters written before I saw that post. I just wasn't going to work on it just yet. But when we got talking about the idea on there, I dug it up and got interested and voila. So yeah. But I do really like the idea of people requesting storyline ideas. It's a little different than the challenges because there's not so much rules as much as a really general "I wanna see a story about (blank)".  ;D

Well that works too! You can request a story or request someone write one in here lol

Although if some of you just updated, we wouldn't need the new stories. Guilty Roads easily falls within my request! As does The Other Side of Nick Carter & Divine Intervention!

In other words, it's update time while Mare is on vacation & wants to read lol

I haven't had much to read lately myself. I'm basically only reading two stories while working on my own. I need new stories to read too lol

Can I please request that Julie updates Guilty Roads?  It's one of those stories which had me hooked from the moment I started reading :)

I've got a few stories I'm currently reading, but am always open to suggestions of other things to read.  I like action/adventure/horror/suspense/drama and there could even be a random girl thrown in to the mix too to bring a little romance!

Yep, it worked with me! lol And I'm super happy!

And about the idea of requesting an idea (lol). It's really a great idea, it's like the prompt meme thing on livejournal (though I'm only following the Glee Angst Meme lol) Basically, anyone can prompt a story he wants to read (and it can be from the simple: "I want a story Brian centered" to a detail request about what he wants in the story) and whoever wants can claim the prompt and start the story.  :)

Can I please request that Julie updates Guilty Roads?  It's one of those stories which had me hooked from the moment I started reading :)

Ahh, you guys!!!

Okay first off - thank you. :)

Secondly, here is where I stand with Guilty Roads:  I have three novels-in-progress that are posted, not including collabs, and it doesn't work very well if I try to bounce around between them because I end up not really caring about any of them that way.  I have to pick one and really commit to it.  I picked Secrets of the Heart because it's the one I could see finishing first - which I'd really like to do by the end of summer!  If I can do that, that may free up my mind to really focus on GR, with the Harry Potter story as a backup for when I feel like writing something fun and silly.  I'm just too overwhelmed with all these stories right now, which is my own fault, and GR is the most overwhelming of all.

I know I said I'd get back to it when I finished CC, and I'm really sorry for stringing you along!  I do plan to continue it and hopefully finish it at some point, I promise!  Thanks for caring about it! :)

Thanks :)  I've turned into one of those annoying writers who start too many stories and don't finish them, so I'm determined to start finishing some of these stories!  Undead is on the list to be finished this year too, hopefully!
