[I could probably list about ten others from various stories. Does that make me sound like a total pompous ass? LOL
Eh, I was the same way LOL. I found the favorite chapter to be the hardest category; I saved it for last and ended up just going with the BMS chapter I used for the question about which one represents my writing best. It is one of my favorite chapters, but I don't know that it's really the favorite favorite. I'd already used some of my other contenders in other categories and wanted to put something unique for each one, though. I also thought I should do a serious chapter, to represent my writing better, but in all honesty, my favorite things I have written are the funny parts, mainly for 00Carter and the two death round robins. Those are the ones I find myself going back to read, more than the serious stuff. But that BMS chapter definitely stood out in my mind as one of the more memorable ones. Other serious options were the death scene in Curtain Call and the first zombie chapter in Song for the Undead, but I used those two parts in other categories.
As far as my best beginning, that one was a lot easier. I picked the beginning of Secrets of the Heart because I have always loved that first chapter. It sets the status quo, but unlike a lot of my stories, it gets to the good stuff right away! There's no build up to any drama; you find out right away that Brian is dying, so the stakes are set high from the get-go. Since the story's an AU, I knew I had to suck people in right away if I wanted them to give it a chance.
The ending question was also pretty easy. I went with By My Side because it just meant the most to me. Finishing that story was a HUGE deal because it was so long and had taken me so many years to write, and I wanted to end it in a big way... you know, by killing off both my main characters LOL. It's a little cheesy, but I loved the idea then, and I still love it now. It's very fitting of that story and wraps things up with a nice big bow on top of a tombstone (or a bench... where their bodies could rest, side by side, or something like that LOL). A perfect bittersweet ending for a bittersweet story.
