Old age.  It's a "flash forward fifty years" kind of epilogue that takes place at Claire's funeral.  It talks about what a nice long life they had together, and then Nick dies at the end within days of Claire, as old married couples sometimes do.  So it's sad, but sweet.  I'm not THAT mean.

mare:
Aww that is sweet! LOL Good to know!

Picking an ending was pretty hard for me because those chapters are usually the ones I'm most proud of. I honestly think I have loved every single ending I've ever written. (she says pompously lol) I went with the two I did though for various reasons.

It Stays because it really does a good job of summing up Brian's final thoughts of what happened while letting us know there was no really happy ending. The guy wasn't caught and neither his life or Nick's life will ever be the same. That was so important to me but I also know it bothered a lot of people who really wanted a happy ending with the bad guy going to jail or dying.

Season's of Change because it really lets everyone see that in the end that messed up kid in Mels Tree, goes on to make a great life for himself by becoming a famous author. It's only implied but having him give the commencement speech just felt really appropriate.

I wanted to list the ending of Scars Run Deep and Wide but I know that three people are currently reading it, so for that reason, I didn't want to give it away! I am really in love with this ending though! LOL
