The DNA short story song challenge
« on: January 27, 2019, 06:18:04 PM »

Pick one of the tracks off of the new album and write a story based on the song. Once you pick a song, post it in here. Once a song is chosen, it can’t be picked by anyone else.

There’s no rules. Just how you interpret the song, even if it’s just the title.

Have fun!

1. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
2. Nobody Else
3. Breathe
4. New Love
5. Passionate
6. Is It Just Me
7. Chances
8. No Place
9. Chateau
10. The Way it Was
11. Just Like You Like It
12. OK

Seeing as this album is all about romance/relationships, we should make it more interesting and see if we can turn the stories into non-romance/relationship ones. Since non of us are wanting to write a romantic story right now LOL

That would be interesting.  Mine was totally going to be romantic, and I will probably still write it that way at some point, but I'm totally behind turning these into horror stories, tragic angst-fests, and so on.  The title of the novel I'm writing comes from a line in Don't Go Breaking My Heart and is not a romance; does that count? LOL

It was just a suggestion lol but I just thought of it since we talked about how its hard to write romantic stories for them right now. You should still write your story if you have an idea for it. I cant wait to read the story you are working on right now!

Thanks!  If the next couple weeks go well writing-wise, I may start posting it around Valentine's Day.  We'll see.  I keep talking myself down from doing it, but then I keep tweeting about it, so clearly I'm getting antsy to start posting the thing.

Yay!!  That's a good example of a relationship story that is definitely not romantic, LOL.

I'm watching You too and it's definitely giving me some ideas!

I'd love to have a go at writing something but it's been so long, I'm so out of practice.

But a story with the title Chateau sounds like it could have a few possibilities

I’ve been working on an idea for The Way It Was, I have been sick and not focusing enough to write so I don’t have it started. Tossing some ideas around right now though. Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with, its been a hot minute since we’ve had a good challenge on here!!

I know!  I haven't started mine yet either.  I'm been on a roll with my novel, so I'm kind of waiting until I hit a wall with that.  I don't want to interrupt the flow by writing something else.

Only three have been claimed???

I'm torn between Chances and No Place.

I really need to get on with this, I've been terrible for reading and writing recently, probably due to having no laptop.  I'll be sorting that issue soon!

That was me last year.  Having a laptop again makes a huge difference!

I haven't started on my short story either because I've been working on my novel, but one of these days...

Now that I have internet at my house and my laptop is running it’s a bit easier for me to write. I mostly type on my iPad now but I used to write everything on my Blackberry by hand with no computer. Having no computer sucks! I’ve been working on my novel as well, but I’m trying to come up with my challenge story. Hoping that I will be inspired to write soon, as I listen to DNA at least once a day to begin with.
