Carter-Orange:
I'm glad you've had plenty of distractions to take your mind off it all a bit.  Funerals sound expensive, I'm glad you almost reached your target.

We had a storm here over the weekend.  The whole country had alerts on our phones and at first wondered what the hell was going on as it was like a loud siren all going off all at he same time (I was thinking zombie apocalypse type thing lol).  So we were without power for 30 hours in my area, which has never ever happened before where I live, even the shops were closed due to no power.  There were loads of trees down, traffic lights out and things blown around but can't see any other damage.  I know in some US states you get some really awful storms and ours probably seems like nothing compared to that, but we don't usually get really extreme stuff here.

mare:
Wow! That sounds rough! Losing power for that long is not fun. I hope you didn't lose too many groceries because of that! It seems like weather is getting more severe everywhere. Climate change and possibly end of the world stuff happening! I hate when the power goes out! I find it really unsettling. I've only had the power go out for that long once a little while back when we had a hurricane. I remember stressing because at that time I didn't have a cell phone and without power my landline was useless, and I didn't know if we were going to have school or not, so I had to drive out to the nearest laundromat which was opened 24/7 and had power and a TV. That's the only way I was able to tell if we were closed. Which we were. For two days!

Tickets for Kieran's play went up on pre-sale yesterday. It's a 12-week engagement starting March 10th and running til the end of May. They range from $500 to $150. I wonder if the price will go up if he wins an Oscar. I love that he's the headliner with Bob Odenkirk, Bill Burr and Micheal McKean. There seems to be only 4 wheelchair accessible seats but not totally sure about that. We'll see what happens. My sister doesn't seem thrilled with the idea. When I told her she said "I was hoping he'd pull out of it." Which doesn't bode well for me.  :plugears:

Carter-Orange:
Oh no, I hope your sister changes her mind and you do get to go.  You need something to look forward to.  Tickets sound expensive but I guess that's what they sell for these days for shows.  Better to buy sooner rather than later in case they sell out or the price goes up if he wins an Oscar.

That must've been scary having no power or phone for all that time.  Driving out in it must've been quite an experience too!  At least we had our phones so we could see what was going on in the world (until they ran out of battery lol)

mare:
Yes, keep your fingers crossed for me. It was scary since I hate to drive already. Driving in bad weather is not ideal. If it happened now that I'm part of this century, it probably wouldn't be as bad. lol

Carter-Orange:
Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you'll have a lovely time spent with the people you love.

I've just got today and tomorrow in work and then off for a week, so I'm looking forward to that.  We had the annual get together at my dad and stepmum's on the weekend and will see my mum and stepdad on Christmas day.

Getting a little worried about my mum's memory and think she probably has the beginning of dementia.  She's failed a memory test and had a CT scan last week, so waiting for the results of that (which take ages here as the health system is shockingly slow these days).  So that won't be good as her mum had that too at around the same age.  I didn't even think it was hereditary?
