I give Lauren credit. It couldn't be easy breaking off the engagement. Even though she was flirty with the gym guy. She could of made things harder for Nick. She must truly care about him to let me figure things out.

Author's Response: Lauren totally cares for Nick. Y'know Leighanne was a bitch in Only In My Dreams and I didn't want to do that to Laur in this story. I think it makes it that much more complicated that Lauren IS a good person. No one in this story is perfect and I think that's why I'm so obsessed with developing it now.
I'm so proud of Shay. She's had such crazy ups and downs this whole story and we're finally beginning to peel that girls rough layers back.

I want to see how this new phase is going to play out, but I'm hoping for great! I really want Shay to have a fairytale relationship once and for all! But that's me.
I also think Nick is really hoping for a chance to feel like a complete father for Jake, with home and mommy in the whole package, he's ready to do that!!!
Author's Response: Enticing isn't enough to describe Nick...but it's a start. I've been looking forward to getting to this last act, or last 20 chapters, for a long time. Hopefully I won't have you all running after me with torches in an angry mob!

Just loved how you posted all these chapters! Had a nice big chunk to read...but loved the Nick and Jake shaving scene, him getting busted by Lauren. OMG she was flirting with another guy too :( poor Nick! But glad that he is gonna have a chance with Shay...I so want them together! I love how strong shay's character is, love her! Awesome updates Jen, loved them!
Author's Response: I've had the Jake/Nick shaving scene in mind FOREVER. It's so domestic but Nick makes it hot. :) I don't know WHY, but I see Lauren being a lot like Nick. I think that's why, IRL, they've stayed together so long. They're alike but that ends up balancing them. Even so, as for this story, they did the right thing by stepping back for a bit and evaluating.

I love Jake. I was kind of anti-kids for a while, but now I'm thinking I wouldn't mind a little blond Jake of my own, haha. Also, I know someone had mentioned that they hoped this wasn't the typical Nick finds true love in old flame kinda story, but I really hope he and Shay end up together. I keep rooting for her this whole time. Just your average, caring, down to earth normal girl. With an extremely sexy guy at her side, haha. I love how you've developed Nick's character throughout this entire story. He's getting so much sexier with each chapter. And what I would do to touch those hands of his, haha. :) Great chapter, honestly cannot wait for another update!
Author's Response: Well I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long - by my calculations maybe an hour and a half? haha. Anyhow, I love kids so it's hard for me not to slip an adorable one into a story. Jake's taking the cake though. :) The thing I love about reviews is the differing opinions that I get. It's always hard for me not to get involved in the 'debate,' but to do so would be to totally defeat the purpose of dragging this story on and keeping you all hanging! :) I think no matter how you cut it, Nick stories fall into two commonly used categories - there's been a flood of Nick/Lauren stories lately and then there's the traditional boy meets girl. So, it's still in the air where this ones going to fall!

I know i haven't reviewed in FOREVER, but i am totally in love with this story! I've always said it but your SO good at writing Nick, and describing everything just right.

Oh my God. It is 1AM and I have read this in its entirety. This is my fave story on here. Your character development is flawless. Your descriptions of every little thing are fantastic. I sit here glued to my screen as I got chapter after chapter. I LOVE Nick's character in this, esp. since it probably mirrors how he is today. Also appreciate the fact that events happen in the present. And I MELT for Nick's flirtations, I really really do. Please update when you can!!
