My heart broke for Shay when Nick said those things to her at the bonfire. Sure he was on drugs, but in my opinion thats just a bad excuse.. wonder what he's gonna do about Jake, he missed some importent and funny years of his life by being an ass.. Now it's time to do the right thing Carter!!
Author's Response: I personally think drugs are a lame excuse too. He was just an all-around crummy person at that point in time. If the thought hadn't been there, drugs or no drugs wouldn't have fueled it. I know some people are going to argue that Shay should have told Nick she was pregnant; but I wouldn't have wanted the asshole around me. Normal hormones are bad, but pregnancy hormones plus a douchebag...no thank you!

That last part hit so close to home for me...for I have swore the EXACT same thing. My son's father is just a sperm donor...a womanizing manwhore...and I swore my son would never grow up like that, to repect women. And, looking at him now, at 12 almost 13, I think I'm accomplishing my mission.

Wow oh wow. Finally got myself caught up, I have been trying to read everyone's stuff and update my own stuff, it gets a little crazy. Sorry if I haven't been reviewing, loved the last few chapters. Nick was a jerk to Shay but he didn't realize what he was doing because of the drugs. Now that he knows about Jake, maybe he and Shay can work things out! It seems to me that Nick does feel bad about what he did and hopefully he will talk to her. Awesome update!
