Hi, I'm Julie. I'm an elementary school teacher from Illinois. I started reading BSB fanfic over the summer of 1999, when I was 14, and I've been writing it for almost as long. My favorite kind of stories to write are drama/angst with a hint of romance, and most of my stories are about Nick or Brian.

You can check out my full collection of stories on my site, Dreamer's Sanctuary.

Awwww, yay! I loved this chapter. I'm all verklempt! The line about having two scars and the ladies going wild next time Brian takes off his shirt made me laugh!

Author's Response: I go wild every time Brian takes his shirt off! *drools*

Hm... interesting ending! This leaves it open for a sequel or spin-off; have you thought about writing one? I'm a little disappointed that Ashley doesn't seem to have been involved, but at the same time, I kinda like the idea of Brian leaving Leighanne for a fanfic writer... :) I loved this story so much, and I'm glad I made myself sit down and start reading it again and not let myself get distracted this time. It was definitely worth the read! I hope you write more group suspense stories like this one and Dodging the Daylight. I see you've been updating another one that also looks interesting, which I will check out at some point, but I wanted to read this one first since it's already finished. :)

Author's Response: I left it open the way that I did on purpose. I had intended to start a spin-off, but then I got distracted with everything that's been going on in my "real" life and never got around to it. Now, I'm working on my most-recent venture so my idea has been put on the back-burner once again. If Brian ever left Leighanne for another lady, that lady better hire a bodyguard (she would be lynched by the fans)! Anyways, thank you so much for all of your amazing feedback!! I've had an excellent start to my day reading all of your reviews. If you do get a chance to check out my current story, that would be amazing! It's a group story - suspense - so, hopefully, I can draw you into that one as well. You always leave such great comments that give me the motivation to keep writing!

Wow, Tracy. You know I'm not really into slash, but I clicked on this cause I was curious, and I actually really liked it! Have you thought of extending it into a novel? I would love to read more about the whole back story leading up to this moment in time, but even so, it was enough the way you wrote it. I could almost believe that Nick and Brian are really in love LOL. Great work!

Author's Response: After having a shitty day like I did today this review really made me so happy. I am still kinda new to the whole slash thing but the fact that it was believable and you wanted to read more really made me happy. I'm so glad you liked it and left a review

Aww... what an unexpected surprise this story was! It made me tear up, and now I want to re-read RMTW. I still think of poor NMN whenever I see something about Alzheimer's. RIP. Loved this, ZDR! Great way to get back into writing! Hopefully this is a sign of more good things to come! :)

Author's Response: I do too, lol. And then I think of the shock collar pics you made. Cause I'm insensitive lol. Thanks! I needed to channel my dark side for Miles but this came instead, it was kinda neat to revisit the RMTW world for a moment.

Summary: The term “sincere voting” refers to a situation in which a voter is able to cast a vote for their most preferred candidate. The term "insincere" or "strategic" voting; however, refers to a situation in which a voter must cast a vote for a candidate other than their first preference in order to best pursue their interests.

If the life of your favourite Backstreet Boy was at stake, would you cast a “sincere” vote or a “strategic” one?

I felt like reading some fanfic before bed tonight, and this story's been on my list to check out, since I love everything I've read by you so far. Based on the first chapter, I think I'm going to love this one too! You drew me right in with all the details that made it feel so realistic. I like that you spent time developing the back story of Carl and his family to establish a motive for why he would do something like this. The original characters seem so strong already, I didn't even miss the Boys. I'm looking forward to reading more!

Author's Response: I was so happy to see your username pop up in my review notification! Thanks for giving another one of my stories a chance. I hope that this one is able to keep your interest as well. You don't miss the boys? Isn't that a bit blasphemous when it comes to fan fiction?! HAHA Seriously, though, thanks for the compliment. :D I'm actually on my way to read the chapter that you posted a few days ago, so look out for MY review in YOUR inbox! Here's to hoping that the Vegas residency generates some more activity around here ...

Yay, there are the boys! I always love the way you write them - the funny banter, but also the complexity of their relationships with each other. Poor Nick really is clueless, lol. Can't wait to find out what happened to Howie!

Author's Response: Ugh, Nick! LOL I can totally see him being a bit clueless about a lot of things when it comes to being married and raising children. Luckily, Odin seems to be turning out just fine. However, I'm pretty sure that's mostly due to the fact that Lauren probably has a good handle on what's going on. HAHA I love writing the boys when they're all together. :)

That's what you get for driving into NYC in a snowstorm, Howie. Dumb! I knew the car crash was no accident, though. I wonder what would have happened if Howie had just hopped into the tow truck anyway. (It wouldn't be as interesting of a story, that's what.). I'm enjoying this!

Author's Response: I wouldn't attempt to drive into NYC on a perfectly sunny summer day! I would probably have a heart attack! LOL Anyways, if Howie had just hopped into the two truck than the story would have ended after this chapter (which you correctly pointed out). Glad that you're enjoying it so far, and I'm super happy to wake up and have some reviews to look at!

You really did a great job writing the emotional reactions in this chapter. The denial, anger, fear... I love how they cycled through every emotion. I felt just sick for Kevin, Brian, and Leigh as they all realized something bad must have happened to Howie. I also felt bad for Kevin when Leigh was getting upset with him for not calling her sooner, but at the same time, I completely understand her anger. Why would the guys think Howie would just stay home sick and not call them?? Obviously something was wrong!

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I definitely had fun writing everyone's reactions. Sometimes the "non action" based chapters are the best ones to write. Although, I always worry a bit that people will get bored just reading about how everyone is thinking/feeling. Glad that my fears were unfounded this time (as far as you were concerned, at least). :P Ugh! Men ... they just don't think things through. If it was a group of girls and one girl didn't show up they would all be looking for her right away. *sigh*

Wow! I knew as soon as that car pulled up that it wasn't really a taxi. Still scary! I was worried one of them was going to get shot. I love how you put AJ in that predicament where he had to make a split-second decision whether to go back and try to help Nick or keep running and escape. I think he was right to keep running; at least now he can go to the police and describe what he witnessed, if he actually makes it that far. Before all of that happened, I loved the comic relief in this chapter. Nick's line about not fitting into Brian's hobbit-sized pants cracked me up. I'm really enjoying this!

Author's Response: Yay! So happy that you're getting more into the plot as it moves along. I was actually undecided about what AJ was going to do right up until the minute that I got to that point in the chapter. Which, I suppose, is fitting seeing as how AJ comes across as being very indecisive about a lot of things in real life. I like that you noticed the funny bits. I always try to throw some humour in to keep things interesting. :D

Oh man, Kevin, you walked right into that! I wonder if AJ will make it to Brian's to warn him before either of them get caught next. I wouldn't mind if it was AJ and Brian trying to save the other three cause I love A-Rok together, but I have a feeling, based on the beginning of the story, that all five of them will end up getting abducted.

Author's Response: I love me some A-Rok!! Some of the time, I even enjoy the AJ/Brian pairing more than the Nick/Brian pairing. I think it's because AJ and Brian are so polar opposite; makes it interesting to write about them kind of balancing each other out. Kevin = dumb dumb in this chapter!! (How often does that happen?!) You will just have to keep reading to find out what happened ... :)

Shit, AJ drank the whole bottle of vodka? With maybe some kind of drug in his system too? That is not good. I hope he can remember to pass on the info he noticed about Carl being the weak link. I think he's right about that. I felt so sad for him when he was thinking about Ava. You always get the emotional parts down pat!

I loved the scene of Brian taking care of Nick's cut and Nick's line about some fans liking guys who can rock a scar. It was also interesting to see how the wives are reacting and what's going on with the police (not much LOL). Which Backstreet Boy is a liar... hmm...

I think Carl is going to be the key to the boys getting out of this. They're definitely getting to him. I'm not surprised that the people voting in the polls don't seem to be fans. I can't imagine anyone but maybe the crazy fans participating in something so sick, especially if they had to pay for it. But random people online who aren't fans? Sure, why not? This is so interesting!

So I got so involved reading the last few chapters, I didn't want to stop and leave a review after every one, but I just finished and had to tell you I loved the rest of the story! You kept me guessing the whole way through. I didn't *think* you would actually kill one of the boys, but you had me worried there for awhile! I love how the guys' relationships with each other played such a big role; you're always so good at working that into your stories! I also enjoyed finding out what Carl needed the money for. You did a great job at humanizing the villains, especially him. I also liked Angelo's back story of working on the cruise and getting rejected by Nick. The threat of rape there toward the end made it that much more unsettling. What a great, suspenseful story this was! I really enjoyed it!

Ooh, I hadn't thought about the fans strategizing to swing the vote one way or the other, but that is a good idea, at least in a situation like this one with AJ having to drink. Too bad it didn't work. I wonder if they will really make him drink alcohol or if there will be some kind of twist (maybe it's not alcohol, but something worse, something toxic?). Reading on!
