Author's Response: Thanks!! LOL I was surprised too! Yeah, it was just a matter of not being able to balance all these unfinished stories I have, and it was too hard to jump around between them; I do better when I can just focus on one story and write, write, write until my inspiration fails. But hopefully now that summer's almost here, I'll be able to work on both. Glad you liked the update; thanks for the review! :)

If you asked anyone I know about my most basic information, they will tell you several things. First, that my name is Nickolas Gene Carter. Second, I am a Backstreet Boy.
What they would not tell you is that I claim I’m allergic to red dye number 40 and that I’m afraid of cats. They wouldn’t tell you that my favorite book is a collection of poems from an author nobody's ever heard of. And they wouldn't tell you that I wear a rubber band around my wrist everyday to cope with stress.
But they’d be wrong about a lot of the basics that they would tell you. Things like my birthday being January 28, 1980. Or, that my favorite food is pizza. Or that my favorite color is green.
Even AJ, Brian, Howie and Kevin – the people closest to me in the world – would answer some of these questions incorrectly. Because there are some things that nobody knows about me.
There are some things that I've never told them, or anyone else, things that even if they knew they would never believe or understand.
Some of it even I don't understand. Like how it all started, or where I came from, or even who or what I really am. I mean, technically I can't be human. All I know is that I can see time. Like literally, I see it, and I live apart from it, independent of its effects. I also can't die. At least I don't think so...

I have to say, this is one of the best written stories on here that I've read in a long, long time. I just love how everything is unfolding, the way he's breaking things to Brian, the way he's dealing with Amie and Claire. And I usually hate stories with original characters being heavily prevalent, but I'm loving this story, so great job.

That's interesting. My Grandfather, fought in France as well, and he met my grandmother, married her and brought her back to the states too. He never talked to us about the war though, he didn't handle it very well. My grandmother has only talked about it once, and it was to me surprisingly. In on story, she was living in an apartment building at the time, and the Germans came through, went to the building next to hers, blocked all the exits off, and then set the building ablaze with her neighbors all trapped inside. Your grandpa was right, war is meaningless.

Author's Response: That's so sad! ...It's really hard imagining brutality like that. Thanks for sharing your grandmother's story, too! ... My grandfather's story didn't end in marriage, unfortunately, because he never found the woman again. But I do have the picture of her that he carried in his pocket until the day he died. She saved his life by having him hide in an oven, of all things, when the soldiers came calling to find anyone who had escaped off Normandy beach. My grandfather earned a Purple Heart and several other medals during his time in WW2, but this was one of the only stories he ever shared. Like you said of your grandfather, he was always touchy about sharing it. That's partially why, in the story, Nick's memory is in the form of thought, not in the form of what he tells Brian. The memory was too personal to share a 2nd time. Claire alone heard the story.

Oh, I forgot you said that you were only going to do this one, once a week.lol I was like "where's Mare?" Anyway, here I was reading this hunkering down for a nice heartwarming Christmas eve with the boys, and then you go and drop a bomb on them and us. lol Can't to see what these dreams were about.

Author's Response: Well, Christmas lasts for a few more chapters if that makes you feel any better? LOL And yes, it's Backstreet related. I don't know if you saw the latest Sonia Berenza interview they did but there was a warmand fuzzy Nick/Kevin moment I am going to write about. Just not sure if I want it to be a one chapter thing or a small novella. When I went to go watch it again, I couldn't get my sound to work and I need to see it a few times to get a better idea what i'm writing about. If you haven't seen the interview, you should it was all kinds of awesome! And as always, thanks for the review!

From before: I did see that interview and I loved what Nick said about his condition, and I actually admit that I teared up a little bit when Nick told the Kevin story, and that you could tell it meant so much to Nick. So I'll be looking forward to that one no matter how long it is. lol

As for this Chapter, it was great how you made everything unfold, between the dreams and the revelation of Max being Nick's Uncle, I really liked how you did that. I can't wait to see how that is going to change the dynamic between the two.

That and when Howie was talking about his dad. I hope I get a chance to write on it soon. LOL I haven't been able to because i've been busy.
