I saw every one randomly posting from Cancun and that seemed to be the general consensus. Very nice but really crowded and a lot of waiting and standing around. I would imagine it wouldn't be ideal for someone like me, although I did see a few people on scooters driving their way towards the stage. I wouldn't think they'd be great in the sand, but I guess the resort probably rents them out.
The resort actually seemed pretty accessible! There were ramps everywhere that had stairs, and every event space had an ADA section with seating and open spaces reserved for wheelchairs/scooters. I saw plenty of people in wheelchairs who looked like they were having a great time. The concerts were held on the beach, and we stood in the sand, but there was a paved terrace in back that still offered a decent view and an ADA section that was accessible via a paved walkway. I know there were accessible rooms, too, but I'm not sure how many. It seemed like it would be doable for you, from an accessibility standpoint. Something to consider for if/when they do more of these. It sounds like they will - the Boys didn't outright confirm it, but Kevin hinted at it, and the resort staff were telling people they signed a contract for four years.
I was getting so annoyed with some of the posts about people complaining about the song choices for that concert. I get that was the focal point of the entire trip for some people but for many, I bet it was their very first concert from the boys. I think sometimes people forget that there's fans and then there's FANS and sometimes it's the FANS that get a little carried away by things. Like being annoyed that IWITW was performed for instance. I had to bitch about that, even though there was a lot more I wanted to say lol
As far as the multiple repeats on the DNA set and this other concert, a lot of people saw that DNA set a ton of times not just once and they had no problem listening to the same songs over and over again. Some of these people, maybe never got to see the DNA show and didn't mind hearing the same songs repeated. I was glad to see that they did sing a bunch of songs they haven't performed in a while though, like Siberia and Poster Girl!
I also saw people bitching about fans not knowing the words to all the songs or even knowing all the titles. Again...FANS know all the bonus songs and B sides and all the words by heart. Fans probably only know the biggest hits so it makes sense those would be the ones they'd want to hear. That was driving me crazy! I know you totally get it. I wish everyone else did.
I get your point about the songs. While I was happy to be there and would have listened to the Boys sing the phonebook, I'm not gonna lie and say I wasn't disappointed with some of the setlist for 30 for 30. I assumed it would be mostly hardcore FANS going to this who would want to hear the deep cuts, and I guess that was the wrong assumption to make. I think some people probably voted for their top 30 BSB songs of all time, while others tried to be strategic about choosing 30 songs we've either never heard live or haven't heard live in over a decade. If I was listing my top 30 songs of all time, of course it would include IWITW, Everybody, ALAYLM, etc... but since I knew I would hear all those Friday night, I went the other route and voted for the songs I haven't heard them sing in a long time or ever. I was disappointed that they only sang 4 of my 30 picks, although I was happy to hear the other deep cuts they did, even if I didn't vote for them. But hearing so many of the hits that we'd just heard two nights earlier instead of the songs so many of us were hoping to hear was frustrating. But, hey, majority rules, so if those were the legit results, it is what it is. I hope the Boys put together their own setlist of deep cuts next time and don't leave it in the fans' hands because I think they were a little surprised and disappointed to be singing so many of the same songs, too. They kept saying stuff like, "Don't be mad if you don't hear your favorite song. This is what you guys picked!" and acknowledged all the repeats.
I'm sorry you got burned. I would imagine it was hot as hell. Was it a dry heat at least? Or was it humid? I could've done without the roach sighting lol but with heat comes those lovely bastards. I'm glad you'll get a chance to catch up on sleep this weekend. Only two more days to go! This week has really dragged, and I didn't even go anywhere. LOL
It was in the upper 80s, sunny, and humid every day! I didn't even bother to put on makeup because I knew I would just sweat it off, so I guess it's a good thing I never got close to the boys because I looked like a hot mess the whole time LOL. Not that that would have stopped me if the opportunity had presented itself. But at least there was no pressure to look cute for a planned meet and greet LOL. Thankfully, the only roaches I saw (2 of them) were outside and not in our room. There were also stray cats running around (we saw two fucking by the pool one day LOL) and so many clever birds that would swoop in and steal food from the buffets. And deer! We saw multiple deer at night. Never saw any lizards, which was surprising.
I am so glad it's Friday! In addition to being exhausted, I'm now sick... not sure if it's Nick Plague or just from being around so many people, eating from buffets, or the change in weather. I definitely need a couple days to catch up on sleep and do nothing!
