min- mystery
« on: February 02, 2014, 08:57:00 PM »

I had this idea to write a mystery game! Just to let everyone know I'm finding this stuff from a book I have.I used Nick in place of the detective. I hope the first one I picked is not that hard.

Have fun!
-----------------

Some time after ten PM during a party, the house was plunged into darkness momentarily. During this time, a shot rang out, and when the lights came back on, AJ Mclean was found dead on the floor.

Inspector Carter arrived at the residence before midnight.

"Can you recall the time of the incident?" Carter asked a guest.

The guest glanced at the clock. "The clock must have stopped at the time of the shooting because the hands were in exactly the same position as they are now."

This was not the case. The hands had actually changed places.

1) Can you tell what time the shooting took place?

2) Can you tell what time Carter asked the guest the question?

Oh, fun!

I'm guessing the shooting took place at about 10:59 PM, and Carter questioned the guest at about 11:54 PM.  If that were the case, the hands would have just switched places.  At 10:59, the hour hand would be almost to the 11, and the minute hand would be almost to the 12.  At 11:54, the hour hand would be almost to the 12, and the minute hand would be almost to the 11.  If you weren't looking carefully at the length of the hands, you might think they hadn't moved.

Cool!  I love stuff like this.  I may have to edit and share with my class; we're in the middle of a mystery unit!
