10 Hours Later . . .
8pm
We were in the Carter house eating the "Halloween meal". I ate a lot, and I think Jane noticed. She looked at me. I smiled and nodded my head slowly. She smiled. She was the first to know she was going to be a grandmother.

After the meal, we went into the living room and discussed about what's going on in our lives. Nick rubbed my neck with his nose, whispering, "Wanna tell them now?" I looked at him and smiled, nodding my head. Nick got their attention and stood up.

"Mom, Dad, guys," he began, referring to his brother and sisters, "Ally's gonna have a baby."
Leslie and Angel gasped as everyone stared at me. Ok, . . . I'm feeling a little uncomfortable now.
"And before anyone asks," Nick continued, "she's 3 months."
I smiled proudly.
Jane was the first to congratulate me. "Oh, my God, honey, congratulations," she said, her voice breaking.
I smiled, "Thanks."
She hugged me again as I saw Bob hugging Nick.

(Nick's POV)
"Dad, you're gonna be a grandfather," I told my father, hugging him.
"I know; you're gonna be a father," he told me, sounding as if his voice was breaking.
"Yeah," I replied, as I pictured myself as a father. Man, is fatherhood gonna be fun.
After my Dad came my Mom. "Whatcha think of the Halloween surprise, Ma?"
"I love it, Nickolas. I love it."

2 Hours Later . . .
10pm
(Ally's POV)
Nick and I were in the car heading for home. We were listening to the car when I heard one of my favorite songs I haven't heard in the last 5 years . . .

Somewhere there's speaking;
It's already coming in
Oh, and it's rising at the back of your mind
You never could get it
Unless you were fed it
Now you're here, and you don't know why,
But under skinned knees and the skid marks;
Past the places where you used to learn
You howl and listen
Listen and wait for the
Echoes of angels who won't return

He's everything you want;
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you that you wish you could be;
He says all the right things at exactly the right time,
But he means nothing to you, and you don't know why

You're waiting for someone
To put you together;
You're waiting for someone to push you away
There's always another wound to discover;
There's always something more you wish he'd say

He's everything you want;
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you that you wish you could be;
He says all the right things at exactly the right time,
But he means nothing to you, and you don't know why

But, you'll just sit tight
And watch it unwind
It's only what you're asking for,
And you'll be just fine
With all of your time,
It's only what you're waiting for

Out of the island;
Into the highway
Past the places where you might have turned
You never did notice,
But you still hide away
The anger of angels who won't return

He's everything you want;
He's everything you need
He's everything inside of you that you wish you could be;
He says all the right things at exactly the right time,
But he means nothing to you, and you don't know why

I am everything you want;
I am everything you need;
I am everything inside of you
That you wish you could be;
I say all the right things
At exactly the right time,
But I mean nothing to you, and I don't know why
And I don't know
Why
I don't know

"Oh," I began, "I love that song. I haven't heard it in 5 years."
"That's a long time," Nick said.
"I know. I'm so happy I heard it again, . . . and especially since I have a little person inside of me," I smiled, touching my stomach.
Nick smiled as he parked into the driveway. He kissed my lips softly. "I love you."
I kissed him back, "I love you, too." I smiled, but it soon faded as Nick opened the car door for me. I felt as if we were being watched again.
