Chapter 27
AJ couldn't believe this was happening. His girlfriend couldn't remember him or her friends or worse yet herself.
" May I speak with you guys outside" The doctor asked.
The group filed out of Gina's room.
" What's going on doctor" Chelsea asked.
" It looks like Gina when she slipped and hit her head it effected the side of her brain that controls the memory" The doctor explained simply.
" In other words your saying she has amnesia" AJ asked making sure he understood what the guy was saying.
" Correct" He answered.
" So will she ever get her memory back" Nick asked.
" Its different with every case she may get her memory back tomorrow, next week or a year from now or she may never get it back" The doctor explained. " It all depends".
" Is they're anything we can do to help her," Rachel asked.
" Well you can try telling her things, showing her things that kinds of stuff to try and jog her memory" The doctor replied. " It looks like she can go home tomorrow from me just examining her".
" That’s great" Chelsea replied happily.
" Well I have got other patients to attend to so I'll check back with her before she leaves tomorrow" The doctor said leaving the group.
" OK guys I think the best thing we should do is to let her get to know us again" Rachel suggested.
The group nodded in agreement.

The next day Gina was getting ready to go home. Her friend Rachelle or Rachel or something like that had brought over her clothes and some toiletries. The gang of people had been coming in and visiting her the past day introducing themselves and what they're relationship to them was. She had never felt so out of place in her life. Every time she tried to think of something from her past she just drew a blank. She knew that her name was Gina and that she were eighteen going on nineteen soon but that was about it. Her head still hurt not as bad thankfully. That morning they had taken the wrap that was on her head off and now only remained a Band-Aid that covered the sixteen stitches. A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts.
" Come in" she called.
The guy that she recognized as the one that visited her the most.
" Hey AJ was it" Gina said trying to remember what it was.
He was her boyfriend that’s what he had told her. She had been expecting him cause he was her ride home.
" Hey Gina" He said.
AJ handed her the red roses that were in his hand. " These are for you". Gina smiled. " Thanks".
" You ready to go miss" an orderly asked coming in with a wheelchair.
Gina nodded.
Gina got into the wheel chair while AJ grabbed her stuff and they left.

Back at the apartment Rachel and Chelsea struggled to get everything set up. They had decided to throw a little get together so that she would get to know them better and would feel more comfortable. They had made her favorites for dinner. They guys were no help. Kevin and Howie were playing cards on the coffee table while Nick and Brian were watching a basketball game on TV. After the table was set Rachel walked into the living room.
" Hey guys get off your asses AJ will be here with Gina any minute".
Howie and Kevin put their cards away but Brian and Nick kept watching the game. Rachel frustrated walked over and shut the TV off.
" Hey we were watching that" Nick whined.
" Gina is going to be here soon" Rachel reminded him.
Just as Nick was about to respond the door opened and AJ walked in carrying Gina's suitcase.
" Hey AJ where is Gina" Chelsea asked coming from the kitchen.
AJ looked behind him and noticed he was alone.
" Well she was right behind me" AJ replied.
AJ left and returned with Gina who held his hand tightly. She looked nervous as hell.
" Its ok don't be nervous this is your home" AJ whispered in her ear.
" Ok" Gina replied softly.
The room was filled with an awkward silence not knowing what to say or what to do or even how to act around Gina now.
" How about I show you the grand tour of the apartment I know its not very big but I can show you your room and where everything is" Rachel explained breaking the cone of silence.
Gina shrugged. " Ok lead the way".
While Rachel picked up the suitcase and shoed Gina the room the group quietly started talking.
" So AJ does she remember anything yet" Nick asked.
" No she doesn't remember a thing" AJ replied sadly.
" Look guys when Gina and Rachel come back we need to act as normal as possible so that she gets used to us" Kevin said,
everyone nodded in agreement. Rachel and Gina arrived a few minutes later.
" Let's have dinner" Chelsea suggested.
The rest of the evening went by fast. Gina wasn't too talkative but that’s what the all expected since she was getting used to them. Later on that night after everybody left and Gina went to bed Rachel sat in her room looking out the window into the clear starry night. She looked up to see a shooting star. Rachel closed her eyes and wished things would go back to normal.

A week later Rachel was having lunch with Nick at one of the fanciest restaurants in town. He had decided that they should have dinner someplace nice since it had been ages since they had a nice evening alone. Gina had started to pick up her normal routines even though things were still a little weird.
" This is nice" Nick commented.
Nick had a purpose to the dinner. He hoped it would go well.
" Yeah it is its been awhile since we have been alone like this" Rachel replied.
" Have I told you how beautiful you look tonight" Nick asked.
Rachel laughed about five times".
" Well here is a sixth time you look so beautiful" Nick replied.
" Thanks Nick you look hot yourself" Rachel retorted.
Rachel looked into Nick's blue eyes. She new Nick inside and out and could tell that something was on his mind.
" Ok Nicky spill".
" Spill what my wine" He joked.
" Quit being a smart ass you have that look like you have something to say so say it" Rachel replied.
Nick sighed. " You know me way to well I can't get anything past you".
" Damn straight" Rachel answered with a smirk.
" Ok here goes I want to ask you something but promise me you will keep an open mind" Nick started.
" Depends on what it is" Rachel answered.
" Ok I have been doing some thinking and seeing everything that we have been through and the fact that I love you so much and can't live without you I was wondering if you would move in with me" Nick concluded.
Rachel sighed. " She really wanted to move in with him but for her it was a big step. Rachel looked at Nick and knew she wanted to be with him more than anything is.
" I will move in with you Nick but I want to wait another week or two to just to be sure that Gina will be ok by herself" Rachel responded.
Nick grinned that Carter one hundred-watt smile that Rachel liked so much. " That’s so awesome I can't wait," He said excitedly. " How about a toast to a wonderful future together".
Rachel agreed and leaned over the table and kissed him passionately. After they broke apart Nick winked.
" How about we skip dinner and go to our home and you know".
Rachel laughed "ill be waiting in the car" and with that ran to start it up.

Chelsea wiped the tears in her eyes with a tissue. She had spent the evening with Kevin watching sweet home Alabama. Kevin smiled loving it when she got into those romance movies.
" Wasn't that so cute Kevin" Chelsea asked with a dreamy sigh.
" Yeah it was bit I was watching you the whole time though" Kevin replied. " Awe Kevin your so sweet" Chelsea gushed. " You always make me feel good".
" Well I try my best cause you look good and I want you now to be perfectly honest" Kevin admitted.
" Kevin you naught boy" Chelsea teased. " I love you so much I can see a future with you" Chelsea admitted sheepishly.
She always used to be scared to bring that up to guys because she was afraid that it would scare them away but with Kevin it felt right.
" Me too I can see you as my wife someday" Kevin agreed. " I have an idea how about we go and take a shower together and um have fun afterwards". Chelsea thought about it. " OK sounds good to me but first you have to do me one favor" Chelsea told him.
" Anything for you my sweet angel" Kevin replied softly.
" Catch me first" Chelsea challenged running away.
Kevin grinned. " I love that woman".
Kevin darted after her.

Gina took a deep breath of the fresh sea air. It was early evening and she was sick of being cooped up in the apartment so she had taken a drive to the beach. The beach was deserted except for a couple sitting in the sand. Gina was sick of not remembering her past or what her life was like. She didn't know her best friends all that well and she was jealous of them and their boyfriends. She didn't really know hers and it felt awkward. Nobody understood what she was going through. She watched as they all got along and talked about stuff they knew which made her feel uncomfortable. She had never felt more alone than she had in the past week that she had been home. Gina sat down and watched the sun set.
" Mind if I join you" A voice asked softly.
Gina turned around and saw AJ.
" Sure go ahead" She replied without any emotion.
AJ sat down next to her and watched her. Her face was full of confusion, loneliness and even a tint of sadness. After a while AJ spoke.
' I know you must be going through a rough time" AJ started.
Gina laughed "you don't even understand".
" I feel hurt that you seem so distant and that you won't let me help" AJ confessed. " What do you expect from me"? Gina asked with anger. " You and the others don't get what IM going through and you don't understand". " I hardly know you and Rachel and Chelsea and even myself IM alone and scared" Gina was in tears.
AJ reached for her hand but Gina shook it off and ran till she was in her car. She slumped over the steering wheel and cried.
