“Troubling Gifts”

**~Chapter Eleven- Reunion~**

The iron door slides open as Jamelet steps into the dim lighted hallway. The cold air caresses her peach skin as she tucks away her keycard into her white lab pocket. She walks quietly to the two security guards in the hallway and smiles.

“Evening gentlemen. How’s everything down here.” Jamelet whispers, her brown eyes curious for a response.

The dark chocolate skin of one of the guards, shines brightly in the light. His thick gruff voice whispers quietly, his dark brown eyes staring seriously at the woman’s face. “Ms. Jamelet , everything seems to be taken care off here. We just stepped out a few minutes ago to get some dinner, but everything seems fine down the hallway.” Sergeant Dillan responds, passing his fingers through his very short black curls nervously.

The other security guard, his cinnamon complexion shining in the white dim light in the hallway, mutters something softly in a deep voice. She tucks some stray dark brown strands behind her ears. She eyes the man in front of her carefully.

Sergeant Canon raises his grey eyes from where he’s sitting at Jamelet. “Ma’am I said that I thought I just heard some yelling occurring down the hall.” He states softly, sitting uncomfortably in the metal folding chair. He tugs on his pistol and fixes some of the weapons on his blazer.

Sergeant Dillan, tugs on his all black attire: black long sleeve shirt, with a black blazer vest over it with pockets full of bullets and other small weapons tucked in the small pockets. His large thick black cargo pants have pockets filled with other weapons of arsenal. He clumps over to her in his thick leather black boots. He grins, showing his white pearly teeth and points to the hallway. “Ma’am, go right ahead, the girls seem quiet. I don’t know what they’re up too.”

Jamelet nods her head, and walks past him smiling, “Good job men. Know my father is watching.” She states, pointing to the cameras hidden in the corner of the hallways. She walks down the hallway as the men salute her and takes a deep breath. Her high heeled sandals click along the cement hallway as she passes Kimberly’s cell. She smiles at the young brown haired woman and walks pass Paige’s cell. Paige giggles, holding her mouth, her blue grey eyes twinkling in excitement. Jamelet nods her head and turns to see Ana sticking her head near the window of her cell giggling. Her bluish green eyes light up in excitement. Jamelet noticing the strange behavior of the girls turn to see Rose and her mouth drops open. Jamelet glares at Rose’s cell, her anger slowly rising.

“Rose, what happened here?” Jamelet asks slowly, trying to remain calm.

Rose smiles, her blue eyes twinkling. She places her hands on her hips and a smile rises on her pink glossed lips. Her blond tresses hung layered on her shoulders as she nibbles on her lower lip nervously. “He dropped by, I guess.” Rose says softly in a sarcastic tone as giggling from the other girls echo in the hallway.

Nick stands there in confusion, “Get me out of here! These girls are wack! She’s freaking me out!” He shouts running to the bars, gripping it tightly in his hands.

Laughing, Rose smiles and takes a seat in her lounge chair watching the events unfolding.

Sighing, Jamelet pulls out a keychain and opens the cell. She glares at Rose and pulls Nick by the arm. “You have a lot of guts to pull this off, next time around you’re getting the medication first. If I ever see you do something like this again, you’ll be placed in isolation away from everyone for punishment. Understand?”

Rose’s smiles fades away from her flustered face as she stutters out, “Ye, yea, yes miss Jamelet. This won’t happen again ever.”

“Good. I’ll be back along with Dr. Natalie and Summer to get the rest of you in a few. We’ll be having dinner with everyone and the guys. I think I should introduce all of you to the other men or rather experiment 1B.” Jamelet states, grabbing on Nick’s arm and pulling him out of the cell. She walks gripping his arm to the front of the hallway where the two security men are. Smiling, she turns to the men, “Well Sergeant Dillan and Canon. You’ve let me down for the first and last time. My father will not take this failure to easy. So I suggest you get ready to pack and leave this institution. You no longer work for CAPPA.” And with that, she pulls out a remote and opens the sliding door to Ana’s cell. “I think she wants to bid you farewell personally.” Jamelet states softly, a grin plastering her peace face.

Sergeant Dillan and Canon stare at the sliding door as Ana steps out of her cell, her icy breath coming out of her mouth. Her blonde hair lies in a low ponytail as she smiles, her bluish green eyes shine excitedly, “Hey guys, wanna play?” She states eagerly, her hands on her hips, smiling evilly.

Sergeant Dillan cowers in fear as he runs to the front door trying to get out of the area. Sergeant Canon gets up from the chair and screams at Jamelet who was watching from a small glass window into the hallway laughing. Sergeant Canon pounds on the door, screaming, “Let me out, Miss Jamelet! Come on! I don’t wanna die!”

Her respond was just laughter and she whispers through the glass panes, “Enjoy!” And with that she left the area with a dumbfounded Nick behind her.

The two guards stand there, screaming for help as Ana reaches for the guards, her breath a white mist. Giggling, she touches one of the guards as he screamed his last scream.

Summer enters the white experiment room to get the last person, A.J. but before that, he must get tested. Swallowing nervously, she steps into the room tugging on her green lace tank top and knee length black skirt. She pulls out a sheet of paper from her lab pocket and places it on the folder in her hands. She stares to see A.J. lying on the bed casually on his back, his chocolate eyes stare at her.

“Well lookie who’s back. What are you gonna do now? Am I gonna get spanked or what? You know when you left the room before, you left me hanging. I was all eager to get whacked on my booty by a cutie like you.” A.J. states smirking.

“Sir, you still think this is joke don’t you?” Summer states quietly blushing at his remark. She gazes at him in a white wife beater and blue jeans.

A.J. sits up in the cot and looks at her curiously. “I was thinking about what you said before with the powers and stuff. I just have to say I don’t believe a word of it.”

Summer sighs, “That’s understandable sir, just stand up, we’ll be late for you to meet your friends.”

A.J. stares at her with an odd expression on his face. His tan face lights up as he breaks into a smile. “Fine.” He stands up and faces her, running his fingers through his black hair with red dye aligning the side of his hair.

Summer tells him to stare at the chair with the folder on it. He shrugs his shoulder and does as told. Staring at it, he was told to lift his hand up in front of him. He does that and confusion is written all over his face.

“Just raise your hand and concentrate on lifting the folder.” Summer states.

A.J. lifts his hands nervously and the folder floats in the air. He feels a rush of air running through his body and what seems a small shock runs through his fingers. The floating folder crashes on the white floor suddenly. A.J. cries out, “What the hell?” His heart rate picks up and his eyes open wide at the phenomenal event that occurred. He turns to look at her and stares at a lone light bulb swinging in the middle of the room. Not believing he truly possessed such a power and wanting to test again, he lifts his hand and the bulb begins swinging furiously until it smashes and hits the ceiling, breaking it, the glass shards scattering on the floor.

Summer smiles and writes down on the paper: Mclean: power- telekinesis. “Congratulations A.J. you just found your power. Now do you believe?” She asks eying him.

He gulps and nods, “Oh God, man that was crazy. I can do that? I can’t believe it! I guess I should apologize then for me acting a jerk and thinking this whole thing was a joke.”

She states smiling, “That’s alright, now let’s go meet your friends, you don’t wanna be late.” She states, her face blushing as she grabs his arm.

A.J. stops and stares into her green eyes. “Can I ask you something?”

“Sure” Summer states.

“Well, I’m thinking about what you said and all and well I wanna get out of here. Can we get out of this place?” A.J. states quietly.

Summer gulps, “I, I can’t answer that question.” She states nervously, tucking a blond strand behind her ear delicately.

“Why not?” A.J. asks, leaning over her.

“Because if you leave, the government will be after you. You won’t be safe unless…” Summer trials off thinking.

“Unless what?” A.J. states nervously, grabbing her arms.

“Unless we fight back.” Summer whispers, gulping afraid the camera could have caught that part of the conversation.

“So, what’s the problem, if I can do this freaky tele crap then we could get the hell out here!” A.J. says calmly.

She smiles, “It’s not that simple A.J. This organization has power and strength and you just figured out your powers along with your friends. It can wear you out and hurt you if you’re not careful.”

A.J. smiles, “Well that’s why I have you, you won’t let me wear myself out right?” he grins naughty.

Summer rolls her eyes, “Let’s go, you need to talk to your friends, their powers are pretty freaky as well.”

A.J. smiles and grabs Summer’s arm, “Well my lady lead the way.”

Summer grins, enjoying the fact that she could be his lady if it were possible. They leave the experiment room and go down the hallway to take the elevator to the diner.

~*~

The hallway was crowded with doctors and young patients alike in the diner. The large dining room with its beautiful mahogany plank walls and lush dark green carpet covered the waxed mahogany floor. Three large white chandeliers hung around the room with a large dining table in the center of the room. The velvet royal blue curtains hung over each of the large glass pane windows. The five girls are scattered around the room giggling as Dr. Natalie and Jamelet enter the room. Three more doctors enter the room, one Dr. Robertson who saw the men earlier saw the guys there and froze. Security was on high alert this evening with more than fifteen guards in the room armed with weapons.

Brian glared at the doctor and muttered something to Kevin. Nick sneered at the doctor and Howie clenched his fists. A.J .and Summer enter and the other guys race over to him nervously. They all embraced and were glad to see each other alive and well. They all begin discussing what they each can do and they were freaked out to know the ability that they each possess.

“Whoa, Brian, buddy. I was kidding on the death touch, man. I didn’t think it was possible.” A.J. whispers guilty.

Brian pats A.J on the shoulder, “It’s ok J. It’s all good.”

At Brian’s touch, A.J. suddenly jumps and backs away, afraid of Brian’s contact on him. “Nothing will happen to you or anyone unless I want it. I can control it now, so it’s all good.” Brian states sadly, his blue eyes squinting against the yellow light in the room.

Howie sighs, “The whole experience is electrifying isn’t it!”

The other guys groan and shake their heads at Howie’s attempt of a joke. “That is so sad Howie.” Kevin states. Although they were acting normal, they were trying to adjust themselves to the whole freaky experience. The nervousness and concern laid deep in the men’s heart.

Nick sighs, “I just wanna go home and live a normal life.”

Brian pats Nick’s shoulder, “I don’t think we can ever live a normal life again with what we are.”

A.J. stares around the room at notices the five young teen girls in the room. “They’re experiment 1b.” Brian states, pointing to Alison, Kimberly, Rose, Paige and the most unusual girl: Ana. Ana stands there with what seemed like a white cold mist coming from her skin.

Nick points to her and nervously states, “She’s the ice chick! Brian her power is about as strong as yours.”

A.J. shakes his head, “Na, man. What the hell is this place? They’re treating people as guinea pigs! I’m tried of being here and treated like an object!”

Jamelet smiles at his remark, “Now you know the way woman feel when men call them names.”

Dr. Natalie smiles and pulls the guys towards the center to where the dining table is at. “Experiment 1B, this is Experiment 1A , the women who have been here getting examined on. They’re powers are amazing. Why don’t you talk with them and get to know them.”

Kevin gulps and eyes the girls and somewhere in the back of his mind, them all being here didn’t seem right at all. Something is up and looking at the doctor that betrayed them, Robertson, he knew something was about to happen to them. He just hopes whatever it is that he can live to tell the story.
