C.J entered her room later that night as her father made her clean the dishes. Sadly she sat on the edge of her bed, looking around her 10 by 15 bedroom. She sighed and squeezed her eyes tight.

" Oh Father....please help me find my way out of this horrid place." She prayed. C.J stood up and sat down near her small window. A bird chirped on the branch next to her. The little bird turned it's head toward her.

" Why can't I be like you birdi?" She whispered to the little guy. The bird tilted his head as if he knew what she was saying, " You can fly everywhere in the world. See the great oceans. See the tall mountains, the raging rivers, and the beautiful waterfalls. Places nobody else can see. Your....free. Just like I wish I could be." She said sadly. The bird chirped again and flew to C.J's window sill.

" No need to feel sorry for me Birdi." C.J gently touched the top of his head. He chirped and flew away, " Fly away, Birdi....be free." C.J. sighed and went back to her bed. She laid down and began to sing.

" I met a friend today. A sweet little Jay Bird. I spoke to him and seemed like he understood...." C.J sang softly until she fell asleep.
