Two hours later, I crashed on my bed, and pulled out my cell phone again. “Should I?” I questioned, staring at my ceiling. “If you’re wondering if you should call the guy who gave you his number, then it’s a yes.” Julieanna’s voice cooed and I looked up skeptically. “Maddy told me.” She said, walking away. I nodded to no one, and dialed the number on the piece of paper Chris had given me. I smiled as I heard the other end pick up. “Hello.” “Hey is this Chris?” “Yes, who is this?” “Jasmine Brooks, we met at Hot Topic.” “Ah, yes.” He said, and I smiled, relaxing against the headboard. “So, what are you up to?” “Nothing, relaxing against my bed, talking to you.” “Funny, I’m doing the same thing.” I said, standing up, and crossing to my closet. “Oh really, so then if I said I was looking at my self in the mirror what would you say?” “That you’re a little crazy.” Chris laughed, and I smiled, propping my arm on the dresser. “So about us hanging out, wanna hang this weekend?” “Sure.” I said, running over to my bed, and jumping on it. I smiled as I heard Chris laugh. “You having fun.” “Just jumping on my bed.” Chris laughed again, and I smiled. “What school do you go to?” I asked, leaning against my wall. “Valley High School.” “So do I.” I said, getting excited. “What grade?” “12th, I got skipped ahead when I was twelve.” “Same as me. Except I didn’t skip any grades.” I smiled, and looked over as Pete walked by my room. “Hey Chris, can you hold on one second.” “Sure.” He said, and I put the phone on my bed, and raced after Pete. “Pete.” I called, racing after him. “What up cuz.” He asked, stopping in his tracks. “My friend wants to know if I can hang with him this weekend.” “Sure, but no going to clubs.” I nodded, and ran back to my room, picking up the phone. “Hey Chris, my cousin said we can hang here this weekend.” “You live with your cousin?” “Long story.” I said, blinking back the tears. “Oh, okay.” “So, you can come over here this weekend, or I can pick you up.” “Can you pick me up, I kinda don’t want to face a cousin who is older than me right away.” “Sure.” I said, smiling as I lay back against my headboard again. I heard someone knock on my door, and looked up to see Terri smiling at me. I held up a finger, and looked back down. “So I’ll call you later.” “Okay, talk to you later Jasmine.” “Bye Chris.” I looked back up at Terri, and smiled. “What up sis.” I said, patting the spot next to me on my bed. She nodded, and I smiled as she raced into the room, jumping on my bed. I smiled, and said, “What’s up?” “Nuthin, just wanted to hang wit my sis.” I nodded, and grabbed my pocketbook, standing up. “Let’s hit the town.” I said, grabbing Terri’s hand, and dragging her out of my room. She laughed, and followed me out to my Jeep. We got in, and turned on the stereo, My Chemical Romance filling the car. I smiled, and began to sing along to “Give ‘Em Hell Kid”:

Oh baby here comes the sound!
I took a train outta New Orleans and they shot me full of ephedrine.
This is how we like to do it in the murder scene.
Can we settle up the score?

[Chorus]
If you were here I'd never have a fear.
So go on live your life.
But I miss you more than I did yesterday.

You're beautiful!

Well I'm a total wreck and almost every day.
Like the firing squad or the mess you made.
Well don't I look pretty walking down the street.
In the best damn dress I own?

[Chorus]
If you were here I'd never have a fear.
So go on live your life.
But I miss you more than I did yesterday.
You're so far away.
So c'mon show me how.
'Cause I mean this more than words can ever say.

Some might say we are made from the sharpest things you say
We are young and we don't care.
Your dreams and your hopeless hair.
We never wanted it to be this way.
For all our lives.
Do you care {at all}?

[Chorus]
If you were here I'd never have a fear.
So go on live your life.
But I miss you more than I did yesterday.
You're so far away.
So c'mon show me how.
'Cause I mean this more than words can ever say.

(Won't you tell me?)
(Well, there's no way I'm kissing that guy)

I laughed as the song ended, leaving silence between Terri and me. She cleared her throat, making me laugh again. Terri smiled as we pulled into the mall parking lot, getting ready to face paparazzi. Almost everywhere we went, people knew who we were. And just like I predicted, cameras started to flash the minute we got out of the car. “Jasmine, is it true that your boyfriend broke up with you earlier today?” I looked down as the flashes continued, and Terri followed me into the mall. I smiled, and we headed to Hot Topic, even though I had already left for today. “Back again.” Sam said as I entered. I laughed, and said, “Terri wanted to hang with me and I need new clothes.” I said, going over to browse the racks. Terri laughed, and went to the back of the store to look around. I felt eyes on my back, and I turned around to see Sam staring at me. “What?” I asked, picking up a pair of Black Tripp pants with red stitching. Sam smiled, and I moved to another rack, this one with t-shirts piled high. I smiled, and grabbed the t-shirt I had been eyeing all week, the Evil Geisha t-shirt we had just gotten in. Sam laughed as I went over to the accessories, and picked up some black fishnet fingerless gloves. Then I went over to the shoes and picked up Emily Three Black Cats Skater Shoes. I finished shopping by grabbing a bottle of hair dye in Special Effects Nuclear Red. It was semi permanent, I knew, but I wanted a change. So I was going to have Julieanna put some red in, mixed in with the lime green I already had up front. I went up to the register where one of my other friends, Kallie, was working the register. “Hey Hun.” She said, ringing up my stuff. After I paid, and waited for Terri, we went back home.
