The next week went by uneventfully. The girls were involved in freshman orientation at UCF and barely had time to breathe, let alone explore Orlando. The stress of college was already taking into effect and classes had not even began.

"This isn't what I expected," Kristin said as she plopped down on Rachel's bed. "All we've done is run around. I'm sick of school already."

"It'll get better once we get the swing of things," Rachel said optimistically.

"I hope so," Kristin said with a sigh. She sat up and grinned at Rachel. "Hey, let's go somewhere tonight."

"Go where?" Rachel questioned.

"I don't know. Maybe to a club or something. It'll give us a chance to unwind."

"Okay, sounds good," Rachel jumped up from her bed and started going through her clothes. "What should I wear?" She asked herself.

"Clothes would be nice," Kristin said with a grin.

Rachel glared at her and smirked. "Smartass," mumbled as she went into the bathroom.

The girls carefully got themselves ready for the night. Rachel stepped out of her bedroom wearing a blue halter top and black pants. She smiled as she glanced at herself in the hallway mirror.

"Are you ready to go yet?" she asked.

Kristin stepped out of her room with her purse in hand. "I'm ready if you are."

"Let's rock and roll," she said.

Kristin laughed as she headed out the door with Rachel. They drove downtown to a club called Yowza. Rachel parked her car and they went inside. The music was blaring and the tables were pretty much full. Kristin looked over at Rachel. She was standing there with a huge grin on her face. She looked like a child in a candy shop as she eyed a few of the guys passing by. Kristin laughed and led Rachel to a table.

"Wow," Kristin said as she sat in a chair at the first available table.

Both girls looked around at the crowd as they sat at their table. There were hot guys in every direction.

"Now I see what I've been missing back home," Rachel said with a grin.

Kristin chuckled and nodded in agreement. The music got louder and both girls ordered their drinks. They sat back and watched the scene for a little bit. Suddenly, Kristin felt Rachel grab her arm.

"What?" Kristin asked.

"Don't look now, but guess who just walked in that door right over there?" Rachel said excitedly.

"Who?" Kristin asked trying to glace into the crowd without looking obvious.

Rachel's eyes were glowing with excitement. "Kevin Richardson!"

"What!? No way! Where?" Kristin exclaimed while jerking around in her seat, no longer caring if she looked obvious or not.

"Over there!" Rachel said while pointing in his direction.

"Rachel, don't point it's rude," Kristin said as her eyes were focused on the very sexy Kevin Richardson. "Damn!" she said softly.

Her heart skipped a beat when she noticed how good looking he really was. She could barely believe her eyes. Kevin Richardson was in the same club as them.

"Can you believe it? Kevin Richardson from the Backstreet Boys is here!" Rachel said while bobbing up and down in her seat.

"Rach, calm down," she said as she grabbed her arm. The excitement kicked in and she glanced at Rachel. "I have to meet him!"

"I know, me too, but how are we going to get his attention without looking like idiots?" Rachel asked. "Maybe one of us could go over there to the bar and catch his attention."

"That could work," Kristin said with enthusiasm.

"So, which one of us should go up there?" Rachel asked.

"You do it," Kristin said immediately.

"Me?! Why me?"

"He's Brian's cousin."

"I know, which is exactly why I don't want to up there," Rachel said as shook her head in resistance.

Kristin thought for a second. "Why don't we both go up there together? We can work our way up to getting his attention."

Rachel smiled in agreement. "Let's do it."

Kristin and Rachel left their seats and went over to the bar. They sat a few stools away from Kevin. Kristin winked at Kevin and he smiled back.

Kristin laughed. "I just winked at him. I hope that wasn't too obvious. Remember, if he comes over here…stay cool," she whispered to Rachel.

Rachel nodded then gasped in excitement. "Oh, my god! Look, it's A.J.! He's coming this way!"

"Shhh! Stay cool," Kristin said.

A.J. walked toward the bar, looking straight at Rachel and Kristin. He stopped right in front of them and flashed them a sexy smile.

"Well, well, well. What have we got here? A couple of fine honeys sitting here with no one to dance with."

Rachel and Kristin smiled and stared at A.J. He brought out his hand and introduced himself to Rachel.

"I'm A.J. McLean. And you are?"

"I'm Rachel," she said shyly.

A.J. kissed her hand. "A pleasure to meet you. Who's your friend?"

"I'm Kristin," she said with a smile.

A.J. raised his eyebrows and kissed her hand. "You're beautiful too."

Kristin felt her cheeks grow red. "Thanks," she replied.

"So, what brings you two to the club?"

"Campus boredom," said Kristin.

"Oh, college girls," A.J. said slyly.

"Yeah," Rachel said with a shy smile.

A.J. grinned. "Well, which one of you ladies want to give me the pleasure of a dance?"

Rachel smiled. "I will."

A.J. took Rachel's hand and led her out to the dance floor.

Kristin sat on her stool and watched them dance. Just then, she felt a tap on her left shoulder. She turned to and was surprised to find a tall, well built, dark haired, and green eyed man standing next to her. Her mouth dropped a little when she came to realize it was Kevin.

"Hi," he said. "I'm Kevin, and you are?"

"Kristin," she said, still in shock.

"Nice to meet you. Mind if I have a seat?"

"It's a free country."

Kevin sat down on the stool next to her. A.J. and Kristin came back as soon as the song was over. She laughed out loud when she watched Rachel try to get away from A.J. He grabbed her by the waist and continued to dance with her.

"She's so shy it cracks me up. That girl has never been able to be herself around guys"

"Who?" Kevin asked in obvious curiosity.

"My friend Rachel. She's dancing with A.J."

"Oh, yes, I saw her over there with you before."

Kristin glanced at him. "You were looking?"

He smiled and nodded. "Of course."

Kristin let out a breathy chuckle and looked away. "We must've looked like a couple of teeny boppers to you."

He laughed and shook his head. "No, you didn't. You two seem to be pretty close friends. How long have you known her?" Kevin asked.

"We've been best friends for over eight years."

"Really?"

"Yeah, we're sharing an apartment together and going to college at UCF. We've been planning this for years."

"Wow, that's really cool," Kevin replied.

Just then, a girl of about 5'4" with shoulder length brown hair and brown eyes came up to them. Kristin was almost intimidated by this girl's presence. She stared Kristin down with serious eyes. Kristin couldn't help but look back at Kevin as she stood in front of him.

"Have you seen A.J? I've been looking all over for him."

Kevin pointed to the dance floor and laughed. "He was looking for you too, but I think he gave up."

The girl groaned. "I don't know why I put up with him."

Kevin grinned. "Because you love him."

"Yeah, sure, whatever," she said.

Kevin smirked at her and looked over at Kristin. "Oh, Amanda, this is. . .I'm sorry I never got your name."

"Kristin," she said.

"Yeah, this is Kristin. Kristin, this is Amanda, A.J.'s girlfriend."

Amanda shook Kristin's hand. "Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too," Kristin said. "So, you're dating A.J?"

Amanda rolled her eyes. "Yes, but he's a big pain in the ass."

Kristin laughed. "Why do you say that?"

"Well, look at him. He macks on every girl he sees while I stand over here watching him. Who the hell is that chick he's dancing with anyway? I've never seen her in here before."

"That's Rachel, my best friend."

"Oh, really?" Amanda said with one eyebrow raised.

"If it makes you feel any better, she's not interested in A.J."

"Yeah, right," she said with a haughty laugh. "Every girl is interested in A.J."

"Not her," Kristin said with a grin.

Just then, A.J. and Rachel came back laughing and slightly out of breath. "You're a pretty good dancer," he complimented.

Rachel blushed. "Thanks."

A.J. put his arms around Amanda's waist. "Hey, babe! I've been looking all over for you. Where have you been?"

"I've been looking for you, but you were busy dancing," Amanda hissed.

A.J. took off his sunglasses and looked at her with his puppy brown eyes. "Are you mad at me now?"

Amanda smiled and shook her head. "No," she said softly and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

A.J. smiled back and held her closer. "I love you," he said.

"I love you too," Amanda replied.

"Oh, please, somebody gag me," Kevin muttered.

"You're just jealous because you don't have a girl," A.J. said.

"I may not have a girlfriend, but there are plenty of women who want me."

A.J. looked around the club then looked back at Kevin. "Where are they at?"

Kevin pretended to be mad but he couldn't keep a straight face. He wound up laughing and nearly fell off his stool. The others laughed with him.

"Smooth, Kev. Real smooth," A.J. said while laughing.

"Fuck you," Kevin said while laughing.

Kristin laughed with him and looked to her left. Her heart jumped when she noticed Nick coming in their direction. She found herself sucking in a breath to keep from screaming.

"Hey, guys, I'm out," he said as he glanced at Kristin.

"You're leaving already?" A.J. asked. "You just got here not even an hour ago. Where the hell have you been anyway?"

"Over there with Brent," he said. "Look, we ran into a couple of girls. We're gonna go back to his place. I'll catch you guys later," he said then glanced back at Kristin again.

"Alright, take it easy, bro," A.J. said.

Kristin couldn't help but stare at Nick as slapped A.J. a high five. She jumped when she felt Kevin touch her arm.

"Would you like to dance?" he asked.

"Sure," she said as she watched Nick walk away.

"Let me guess…Nick fan," Kevin said as he lead her to the dance floor.

Kristin blinked and looked up at him. "What?"

He laughed and grabbed her by the waist. "I'm not blind. I saw you staring at him."

"Oh," she said while blushing.

"It's okay. I'm not upset. It happens all the time."

"Yeah, but still," she said while looking away.

"Hey, at least you didn't scream and faint," he joked.

"True," she said while laughing. "I'm not like that."

"Good," he said then twirled her around.

She laughed as Kevin caught her in his arms. "Wow, you're good."

He winked at her and led her back over to the bar. "I'll buy you a drink. What's your poison?"

"Sprite," she said with a laugh. "I'm underage."

Kevin laughed. "I figured as much. Alright, Sprite it is," he said as he walked over to the bartender.

Kristin took a seat next to Rachel. They were all laughing at A.J. telling a crazy story.

"So, yeah, I learned real quick that the girls in Norway know how to have fun," he stated.

"I guess I caught the end of the story," Kristin said with a grin.

"You didn't miss much," Amanda said. "He's told that story a million times and he still bores me," she joked.

"I'm hungry," A.J. said while laughing.

"You're always hungry," Kevin said as he sat beside Kristin and handed her the drink.

A.J. ignored Kevin's remark. "Let's go get something to eat. You guys wanna come? I'll buy."

Kristin shook her head as she sipped on her soda. "We'd love to, but we gotta get back to our apartment. We have class in the morning."

"Oh, I see how it is," he joked. "Okay, well it was nice meeting you two. Come back to the club on Friday night if you're not busy. Me, Kev, and Howie will be here."

"Okay, maybe we'll stop by," Kristin said with a smile.

Kevin grabbed her hand and kissed it. "It was a pleasure meeting you. Thanks for the dance."

"You're welcome," Kristin said with a smile.

"Nice to have met you too," Kevin said to Rachel.

"Same to you," Rachel replied with a smile.

Kevin waved good-bye and left them alone at the table. Kristin waited to they were far enough away before she let out a loud squeal.

"Holy fucking shit! Oh, my god!" she said in excitement.

Rachel laughed. "I know! That was so cool! This was the best night of my life."

"I know!" Kristin said as she caught her breath. "I don't think I'm going to get any sleep tonight. And, holy shit…did you see Nick! I thought I was gonna die!"

"He was staring at you pretty hard," Rachel commented.

"He was not!"

"Oh, yes, he was. He gave you a quick up and down glance. I saw him do it."

Kristin blushed. "Okay, let's go home. I've had enough excitement for one night."

"Me too," Rachel said as she followed Kristin outside.

Rachel unlocked her car and Kristin got in. Rachel sat in silence for a moment and placed her hand on her chest. Kristin looked at her in concern.

"Rach?"

"I'm okay," Rachel said softly. "Just give me a minute."

Kristin immediately opened Rachel's purse and handed her a bottle of prescription pills. "Take one."

"Kris, I'm okay."

"No, you're not," she said as handed her a pill. "You didn't take your medicine today, did you?"

"I forgot," Rachel replied as she took the pill from her.

"You're going to get yourself in the hospital if you're not careful."

Rachel shook her head as she took a sip from her water bottle. "I'm okay. Don't worry."

Kristin sighed and leaned back in her seat. "Let's just go home."

"Are you mad at me?"

"No, I'm just tired," she said while avoiding her eyes.

The rest of the drive the girls remained quiet. They parked in the parking lot and walked to their apartment. When they reached their floor they could hear loud Metallica music. They could clearly tell the music was coming from the apartment next to theirs. Rachel rolled her eyes and unlocked the door. Kristin pushed Rachel into the bedroom and placed her heads on her hips.

"When I come back in here, I better find you in bed."

"Yes, mother," Rachel said as she shut the door.

Kristin went to her own room and put on her pajamas. She let out an annoyed sigh as she looked up at the ceiling. She was giving them twenty minutes before she called the cops. The music was way too loud. Kristin stepped out of the bedroom and walked to Rachel's room. She lightly knocked before opening the door. She stepped in and found Rachel lying in bed with her pillow over her head. Rachel pulled the pillow of her head and looked at her.

"Those people better be glad that I'm too tired to get out of bed and kick the crap out of them," Rachel said as she brushed her hair out of her face.

Kristin laughed. "Boy, do I know you can beat the crap out of anybody. Remember the time you nearly broke my hand?"

Rachel groaned. "Oh, don't bring that up!"

"Or when you got mad and kicked the garage door?"

"Are you purposely trying to torment me?"

Kristin laughed again and handed Rachel her inhaler. "Here, you left this on the kitchen counter." she said.

"I don't need it, but thanks," Rachel said as she set it down on her nightstand.

Kristin glared at her in annoyance. "If you have another episode like you did tonight, you're going to the doctor. No, if, ands, or buts about it."

Rachel sat up and sighed. "Kristin, stop trying to be my mother. I can take care of myself."

Kristin backed up to the door. "I'm watching you," she said as she put her hand on the doorknob.

The music had stopped and both of them sighed of relief. Kristin looked at Rachel and pointed at her.

"You, sleep, now," she demanded.

"Fine," Rachel said as she laid down.

"Good night," Kristin said as turned off the light and went to her own room.

She settled into bed and thought about the evening. A smile crept across her face as she remembered seeing Nick and dancing with Kevin. It was something she'd never forget and it made her wonder what the future would bring. With that thought in mind, she yawned and rolled over on her stomach. Almost instantly, she fell asleep.
