The April challenge
« on: April 01, 2009, 08:51:15 PM »

If I wrote this....

I figure this would be a good month for this challenge since it's the April Fool's month and all. First of all I want to say that this is all in fun and should only be done with the author's permission. I am saying right off the bat feel free to use or mock me as much as you'd like. I don't care lol

Anyway...here is the challenge.

You are to use a story that already exists by an author other than yourself and create a cliffnotes version of their story with the way YOU would have written it. Obviously this would work best if you pick a story that is out of your comfort zone and put your own spin on what happens.

Then you are going to write a very condensed cliff notes version of the fic which you can post right in here. Do not make a story link on AC for this one because they are going to be short, like 1,000 words short.

Rules are simple:

~ You must make sure it's okay with the author unless they no longer write and can't be found. Like Eboni for instance besides i'm sure she wouldn't mind. She has quite the sense of humor.

~ You cannot use your own story.

~ It has to be short! Since you're posting in here let's not go all epic Tale of Two Cities, okay? Keep it short! under 1,000 words. It'll be even funnier that way.

~ You have to change at least two aspects of the story you are using. Whether it be the main characters or the plot or the genre, etc...

That's about it!

Short people! LOL

I hope you guys do this and to save time if you don't mind your stories being used pop in and say something so this way everyone knows.

:)

This reminds me of Book-a-Minute... is that basically what you mean?  Or is that too short?  http://www.rinkworks.com/bookaminute/

Either way, it sounds fun!  My fics are open game if anyone wants to use them. :)

This reminds me of those "bunnies" movies... you know the movie in 30 seconds but with bunnies...   I'll try to pick a good story, but I'm going to have to think about it first.

also, like Lenni, if anyone wants free reign on any of mine, feel free to mock away. Some of mine don't even need to be parodied, they're already just that bad. hahaha.

i'm sort of pressed for time as I'm coming to the end of my Spring quarter in school, so i don't think i will be able to do the challenge. But my fics are fair game, although i may warn you a couple are yet to be finished.

Rose, you said you know what you wanted to do. Are you doing it? lol

It's been a weird month, getting majorly sick twice, missing school, playing catchup... if I get a spare moment and some solid inspiration for how I want to do this, yes I shall lol.

I thought of a story to use; I just need to hear back from the author with permission.
