LMAO so Kevin carries sleepy little 16-year-old Nick to bed before he goes into the next room and gets it on with Brian?

Basically, yes lol Kevin gets it on with all of them except for Nick who is apparently too innocent to touch.

Thanks for the shameless plugging Kelly and Sarah!  ;D

Yea I mean as I mentioned before if its a well written slash and more about the emotions of being gay and all of that I could get through it and may even think it original and enjoyable, but if I'm getting slapped with graphic details about how Nick is getting turned on thinking about Kevin I want to just cover my eyes. And its not anything about sexual content. If it was a girl I'd be able to read it just fine... I think its just the mental image and the not wanting to picture them that way.

Like I said as far as sexual content it doesn't really bother me. I do dabble with it w/ my stories, but I try to be tasteful about it. I can read visuals to a certain extent. Its when they reach the really messed up "Nick using a girl as a sex slave" level I get turned off cuz thats just really messed up. I kid you not, I once read a Nick vizzy where Nick actually slipped a date rape drug in this girls drink and the author played it off like it was incredibly sexy. Uhmm no... That's illegal LOL So, yea as long as its in good taste. I'll admit every now and then I enjoy the hot sex scene, but within boundaries.

And I can't take terms like "loins" seriously either Mare. When people get all too poetic and think they are writing a Harlequin romance novel I usually want to stop reading too LOL

Ahh, I hate the creepy ones!!!  Phone sex and bondage and stuff like that are major turn-offs to me too, especially if it's supposed to be romantic.  I just think it's creepy.  And yeah, "loins" makes me laugh too LOL.  I like when those parts can be mentioned without using certain words...

Ditto to everything you just said. I've read just about every kind of romance out there (werewolves, vampires, ANYTHING) and every kind of way to describe sex, and I have to say that my favorite is definitely when a scene is written without explicitly stating every last physical detail because i gag when i see the word "loins" or "he mounted her" is another one that just kills me. NOOOO!! *runs screaming* LOL I think I've written a sex scene three or four times maybe, and I just can't bring myself to do it anymore because I squick myself out LOL But, I totally agree with the ick factor that everyone else brought up...especiall y the Muppet sex. *covers eyes*

Yea you can't take that stuff seriously. I'm very on the fence about the whole sex scene issue cuz admittedly I do include sexual content in my stories. I list it as graphic to cover myself, but there are definitely WAAAAY more detailed stories out there. I'd like to think I write them tastefully. I definitely leave out all the Harlequin romance type langugage, but I also try not to sound completely crude either. Yet, my goal is still to write something "hot" so all my readers are satisfied. I have some who shy away from sex scenes and others who tell me I'm not graphic enough and demmand more. To be completely honest they're a bitch to write because it really takes a lot of description and detail and you have to be so picky about the way you word things.

Anyway point is I've read some great fics with objectionable scenes and I don't rule out a story based on sexual content unless it begins to overshadow the plot.

LMAO! Mare, you made them sound like horses or something...NO!! Well, next time (if there is a next time LOL), you should just have him *consults romantic novel at hand* "he drew her against him" or "he pulled her beneath him" (not one of my faves, but it's not as weird a mental image as 'mount') or...well, I could keep flipping through the novel and find others, but i'm sure we don't need to have a sex scene writing tutorial on this board LOL

and, yes, i really did go through the one romance novel in my dorm room. I can't help it, I'm an addict!

readers actually demand "hotter" more explicit scenes?! that's...okay, i can see people doing that. in high school, when all of my friends were really into the romance novels, we used to call them "porn with a plots" because some of those Harlequin romances really can be pornographic with the way the writers use certain words and *shudders just thinking about it*...yeah. they really are a pain to write, though, because you don't want to sound too dirty or too cheesy. I just got to a point where i didn't want to worry about them anymore, so i quit. but, then, writing a kissing scene can be equally annoying, too.

LMAO at this thread turning from a challenge into a discussion on sex scenes!

LOL the first "sex scene" I wrote was the parody one in Not Another Teenybopper Fanfic, and I seriously did have one of my mom's trashy romance novels in my hand the whole time.

Ya even on Sexcapades which hasn't had sexual content in it, but a lot of sexual innuendos, a reviewer wrote something like "When they actually do it make it much more detailed."  ??? It was like Uhmm yea...

I jokingly say that I learned everything i needed to know about sex from BSB fan fics LMAO
