LOL It was really awkward... I mean she basically did her own character sketch.

People used to actually do that though, if I recall correctly.

Back in the fanfic "glory days" when I first started writing there was a lot of people who would solicit characters for their stories. They would put up a form that people had to fill out and audition for a spot in their fic.

Other people would be offering them up like "Who wants me to write a story about them?"

I remember there being a lot of Yahoo Groups with tons of threads of people asking for stories or looking for characters. It was big business :P

I just remembered that story a bunch of people worked on when the Boys announced the Cruise last year and it was like they kidnapped the BSB from the real cruise to go on a fantasy cruise. I wrote on that before I found out I was going on the cruise. Then I kinda went rouge on them. I like to think I stole the Boys back for real cruise for everyone. I was a double agent and I didn't even know it.

Anyways the point of bringing that up is that that is the only time I've written any people I know into stories. And we were all participating and writing in each other on that one so yeah I don't think it really counts.

It was more of a parody than anything else so I wouldn't lump it into the same category

Same reason there's no zombie smileys on here :( LOL

Agreed, I think it's different when it's a parody. The most I've done is cameos, no one really too serious to the story.

That reminds me of good old Refresh and the whole "auditioning for roles in fanfics" thing they did over there.  One of the "writers" would post in the forum and be like, "I need a female lead for this ficcy I'm writing!  Go!" and all the teenies would reply with a description of themselves:  "Amanduh, 18 years old, 5'7", raven black hair, sapphire blue eyes, tan skin, athletic, was a cheerleader in h.s., likes to laugh, etc. etc. etc."  It was so weird LOL.  I'd never seen that happen in our fandom, although I could see them doing that on the fan club fanfic forums cause those are like a whole different world from this one LOL.

I definitely did when YahooGroups were still really popular. People would either be looking to be in a fanfic, looking to find people to be in one or looking for people to role play with.

I read in some 50 Shades article that One Direction's record label PAID a fan to write fan fiction about them.

Wish the hell BSB would do that.

LOL I'd be scared to post a link to my work on there because what if the Boys scout it out. I'm like traumatized enough that they're following me on Twitter and we all know that 1/2 the time it isn't even one of them posting on that damn account. LMAO

Try having Howie follow you! I literally just tweeted that it was nice he was connecting to the fans (during his solo promo), and he followed me. And this was before he started following like half the fandom. You know how many cracks I've made about a Homicidal Howie? I was SO paranoid of him seeing shit lmao.

The only Yahoo Groups I joined were update lists for websites and Mare's fanfic discussion group, and I can assure you there were none of those shenanigans happening in Mare's group LOL.  I guess I missed out on all that fun!
