Hello everyone :) I went to the cinema with my daughter last night to see a charity showing of One Direction's old film This Is Us (which I saw when it originally came out too).  It was so good to be in a packed cinema with other mums and daughters and groups of girls who were into them all those years ago.  Reminded me of how big they actually were at the time, and how big BSB were back in the 90s/00s too.

Yes, it's definitely not just you - he must have been in something else or look like someone else, but I can't place him.  Here's his IMBD page: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm9780469/?ref_=tt_cst_t_11

What do you mean by passively aggressive mad?  I know what passive aggressive means, obviously, but do you mean mad at the photographer or the guys for doing a photo shoot in an inaccessible place, or just mad at the world/frustrated by the situation?  What might that look like?  I'm just picking your brain for ideas here! 😊  I haven't written the actual shoot yet, but I'm in the middle of a conversation about it, so I'm wide open to input!

Yay for posting your chapter!  I've been hoarding mine, trying to build up more of a buffer again.  I have 3 finished chapters that I haven't posted.  I'll probably post one this weekend, then the next one in two weeks.  The every-other-week updating schedule seems to work better with my slothlike writing pace and keeps me from running out of chapters to post so quickly.  Plus, my next two chapters take place on Valentine's Day, so closer to February is better.  What's really pathetic is that last Valentine's Day, I posted a Christmas chapter, which means I've only covered about two months of time in my story in the past year, in which I wrote every day and finished 18 chapters that added up to almost 100k words.  This is why my story is so long. 🤦‍♀️

Walker Texas Ranger is where I know him. I watched that show because of Jared and he played the love interest of Jared's daughter on there. I knew he looked familiar!

As far as Kevin, I can picture him being passive aggressive towards the boys. Maybe deep down inside even though he said he didn't mind, maybe he was hoping they'd insist on doing things differently and by agreeing so fast to go ahead with it anyway, it maybe would make him upset. Especially once he got there and really sees how hard it's going to be. Maybe by then the guys will have all fallen in love with the location and aren't really willing to change it. I don't know, he seems to me like the passive aggressive type. lol

Every other week seems like a great plan. That's really what I should do too. It would take the pressure off of me. Not that I'm being pressured. I'm purely just pressuring myself! I did get the nicest feedback yesterday from a new person. That always helps with motivation and what I've decided to do is veer away from Roman for a minute and do a little backstory chapter about how Gerri and Logan met. That seemed to help me get moving yesterday.

Kieran was nominated for a Bafta this morning (the UK equivalent to the Oscars) So was his Succession brother for the same category just like the Globes. They're just always meant to compete against each other I guess.

I've not seen that yet, but I should considering I'm a fan of Take That.  I think the fact that Robbie is a monkey in the film has put me off lol.  I've just looked at reviews though and they all seem mostly positive, so I'll have to give it a go.

Hi Steph!  I saw your FB post about seeing the One Direction movie the other day and was like, "I didn't know there was a new One Direction movie."  That makes more sense that it was a charity screening of their old one.  I bet that was fun!  I love seeing old movies in the theater.  I bet it was poignant, given the loss of Liam.  Glad all the 1D fans had a reason to get together and enjoy the nostalgia.  I can't say I'm a huge fan, but I do enjoy some of their songs!

So you actually have seen him in something!  I haven't, but he looked so familiar to me in Thanksgiving too; I remember looking him up then too.

I could see the passive aggressive thing!  It's one thing to agree without fully knowing what he's getting himself into; it's another thing to actually get there and realize how hard it's going to be and then feel like it's too late to back out.  The location they filmed in is 2.5 hours away from L.A. and basically a ghost town in the middle of a desert, so there's no backing out once you drive that far.  And the amount of picking him up and dragging him and his chair around that would be required to get anything resembling some of the real shots they did would probably be humiliating at best and dangerous at worst.  The process isn't going to be pretty, even if the result is.  Thanks for explaining what you were thinking!

I totally get the pressure thing.  I like updating on a weekly schedule too, but I can only do it for so long before I run out of chapters, and then it might be several weeks before I have another one ready to post.  So when I'm only a few chapters ahead of myself, I go to the every-other-week plan so give myself more time.  Maybe someday I'll be the kind of writer who doesn't post anything until they finish the story.  The main problem I would have with that is that most of my stories take a year or more to write, and I don't want to disappear for that long LOL.  That's nice to get good feedback from someone new!  Definitely motivating.  Sometimes it helps to write something different.  I'm glad that seemed to get you back on track!

Congrats to Kieran on his BAFTA!  I wonder if that's fun or annoying for them to constantly be up for the same awards.

I wouldn't say I was a huge fan of 1D, but I did like them a lot.  I had no choice lol, my daughter was a huge fan and was always playing their music in the house and my car and talking non-stop about them so I got to like them that way.  I even took her to concerts and was impressed with how good they actually were.  So it was a great trip down memory lane even though it's still sad about Liam.

Steph, it seems like that monkey movie is the main talk on twitter. You have all the brits saying how genius it is, and everyone should go see it and the Americans are like Robbie who? And why is he a monkey? And then that starts a whole US versus UK thing. lol

I don't get the monkey thing, and I really think that is the crux of the issue with the movie. It is something I might check out when and if it ever streams for free.

The location seems even more problematic then. It would be very typical Kevin to get there, have regret, be angry at himself and then take it out on the guys passive aggressively. Looking forward to hearing what you did when you complete your chapter.

I don't think I would ever be able to wait until a fic is complete before I posted it. I'd be too eager to get feedback on it. Kudos to the people that do manage to do that.

Kieran and Jeremy never really had to compete against each other because up until last year, Kieran was always in the supporting actor category and Jeremy was a lead. After Logan's death, both he and Sarah moved up to lead. So far, he's beaten Jeremy every time they've squared off, but we'll see what happens with these bigger awards. It's actually been very Nick versus Brian coded within the fandom. It's funny how those dynamics always seem to show up no matter what fandom there is. Here, the Kieran fans in general are very happy for Jeremy and hope he does well but the Jeremy fans are all hating on Kieran because of all the success he's been having. I'm sure neither of them cares, really. They are both the underdogs now heading into the bigger awards like SAG, BAFTA and the Oscars if they get nominaed for that.

Oh right, I don't use Twitter as forgot my username and password lol.  I didn't realise Robbie Williams or Take That weren't well known over there.  Robbie used to be part of Take That who were massive, but left in the 90s to go solo as he had a big falling out with the rest of the group and his ego was too big really to be part of a group.  Anyway, they have since made up even though he's not part of the group anymore.  I think the film probably talks about his time in Take That, so I'd be interested to see that, but not keen on the whole monkey thing lol.  I'll wait to see it for free as it's no longer on in my local cinema apart from a showing in the day when I'm in work.

I actually knew who he was. He had a really big hit in the US. I think it was called Angel or Angels? I loved it so much I think I actually bought his CD at the time. I didn't know his history or that he was in a boyband or anything like that. I guess the movie flopped big time here in the US and the Brits were appalled by that. lol I'm sure it's been doing much better across the pond though. I'm sure it'll have a wider release by you soon.

A Real Pain is now officially streaming on Hulu. I'm also excited about Severance, and I'll be watching the last episode of Squid Games today. Oh, there will also be a new The Pitt as well. Good stuff leading into the weekend!

Just popping in to say that I ended up really liking season 2 of Squid Games so much more than season 1. I didn't really understand the purpose of the game master or whatever he's called, coming in and playing the game, but I did like his addition as well as seeing things from one of the shooters perspectives and how about having a trans gender person. Way to go South Korea! I hope they don't make us wait too long for the final season.

I haven't had a chance to watch The Pitt yet. My sister wants to try it out so I'm waiting for her to catch up on the first two episodes because I enjoy watching a show with someone instead of solo, but we'll see how long it takes her to actually watch. I might not have enough patience lol

I haven't heard about whatever's going on with Robbie Williams' movie, but I do know who he is.  Take That was never big in the US, but Robbie had at least a couple of hits that I can remember.  I thought his video for Rock DJ was really cool when it came out!

I will try to watch A Real Pain at some point this weekend.  I'm glad you liked Season 2 of Squid Game, Mare!  I'm not sure if I liked the whole season better than 1 (maybe because it felt so unresolved), but I definitely liked the supporting characters they brought in to play the games better.  I'm terrible at remembering their names or numbers, especially now that it's been a few weeks since I watched it, but I like the mom with the son, the trans woman, and the pregnant woman.  Thanos was also a really fun antagonist!  I'm curious to see what happens with the woman who is one of the soldiers for the games.  I'm not sure why the game master played the games again but figured he was probably bored and was inspired by 001 in the first season.  I was surprised Gi-Hun never seemed to suspect him, given who 001 turned out to be the last time.

Episode 3 of The Pitt was less dramatic than the first two.  It felt like more of a filler episode where not as much happened, but I still loved it!  As hard as it is to wait a week for episodes, I love that Max is doing it that way instead of releasing them all at once.  Now I get to look forward to Thursday nights again, like I did for 15 years with ER.  If they had released the whole season at once, I would have watched it all last weekend and had nothing to look forward to.

Is Squid Game good? I'm looking for new (or "new") shows to binge watch this summer with my newfound free time. We started watching Resident Alien a couple of months ago, but nothing else new.

I lurk on your Kieran tweets when they pop up in my notifications, so you're my running award season commentary. Thanks for keeping me informed!  :D I think I caught one where you were saying we needed to rank celebrity death matches based on Hot Ones and you're absolutely right. I'm probably misremembering and exaggerating your calling it a death match, but I wholeheartedly support that interpretation .

I think it's because I am so all in on the movie side of twitter now that I'm seeing all the drama surrounding this Robbie Williams movie. The consensus seems to be it's a great film but no one in the US is willing to give it a chance because they never heard of Robbie Williams and the whole monkey issue and that's angering the UK because they feel like that's the reason it hasn't been acknowledged for awards. I don't remember that DJ song. The only one I remember is Angel.

I hope you enjoy A Real Pain when you finally get to see it. It's only 88 minutes and isn't like an edge of your seat movie or anything. You just really feel like you're on this tour of Poland with these people. One of which is clearly mentally ill. I kept thinking, if I was ever on a tour, I'd totally be stuck with Benji in my group. lol This is the very first film that was given permission to film in a real concentration camp and they treat that scene SO incredibly. Anyway you]re either going to find it enjoyable or boring. Either way Kieran and Jesse are both incredible in it. I'm sad Jesse isn't getting any love for his acting performance. As for Squid Games, good for you for remembering the names you did. I have enough trouble remembering names like Steve or Rick, I couldn't even tell you the main character's name. I don't really recall who Thanos is. Was he the purple haired guy? I enjoyed the mom and son as well. I hope they make it to the end. I have a feeling the game is not going to be completed so maybe there''ll be a chance that more of them will live at the end.

i still haven't watched the third episode of The Pitt yet, but I figured there would be some filler episodes in there, maybe for more character development. I love the weekly release as opposed to all at once method like Netflix has, even though when they do that, I still tend to only watch one episode at as time, but I usually do one a day instead of once a week.
