Title: For the August challenge (thinking ahead) Part 2 for the readers!
Post by: mare on July 14, 2008, 09:31:53 AM
Okay here is the time all you readers have your say in what happens in August. Obviously that means writers who also read, including people on this list.

This is going to be kind of a long explanation so hang on with me for a few minutes.

You may challenge one, a few, or all of these writers to write a story that is out of their comfort zone.

This is how it works: Let's say there is a person named oodie shmoodie and she only writes romances about Nick and this mysterious girl called oodie shmoodie. You can say something like this...

A level One challenge: I challenge oodie shmoodie to write a romance revolving around AJ and someone OTHER then oodie shmoodie.

A level Two challenge: I challenge oodie shmoodie to write drama with a little romance, but the romance has to be in the background and not the main plot.

A Level Three challenge: I challenge oodie shmooide to write a sci fi story that has NO romance in it at all. She can't even have a female lead anywhere in the story.

So there are your three different levels of challenge for this one.

A few rules you have to follow as challengers:

1. Once you challenge an author, you cannot challenge them again. Meaning you can come up with as many challenges as you like but they can't all be for the same person.

2. Be realistic and know that the authors are busy. It's one thing to ask to write out of your comfort zone and it's another to write on something you know they really really hate. Keep that in mind.

3. If an author is challenged by more than one person, they can decide which challenge to write. They aren't expected to write ten stories if they are challenged by ten different people.

4. Any author can try any of the stories even if they aren't the ones who were challenged. Obviously if the story is already in your comfort zone you shouldn't bother.

5. Be clear in explaining what you want your author to write. Because if I'm challenged to write a romance but that's all I'm given, the female lead will be dead by the second sentence. That will not be my fault, that will be the challengers fault lol

6. If a writer can get around the technicalities of writing out of their comfort zone and still pull it off, then go for it lol

7. Be aware that if you challenge someone and they come through, your name will be put on a list for another challenge coming soon which you will have to take part in. Whether you are a writer or not! lol (seems fair to me)

8. You can choose a word count but none of these stories should exceed 3,000. Most challenges I find are working best with a smaller word count.

9. You can be specific to a plot or an idea but the author as the right to change it around or not use your total suggestion if they feel it will not fit with their story.

10. I would hope you'd review the story that was written for you. Whether you liked it or not.

NO BANNERS! For any of these stories!

Okay, I'm sure you'll have  a ton of questions so feel free to ask away and hopefully i'll be able to help you out.

If not then let the challenging begin!  :)

You don't want a limit? Or do you think that's too many words?
Title: Re: For the August challenge (thinking ahead) Part 2 for the readers!
Post by: RokofAges75 on July 14, 2008, 02:09:23 PM
I would prefer there not be a limit, unless that's part of the challenger's specific guidelines for the story.
Title: Re: For the August challenge (thinking ahead) Part 2 for the readers!
Post by: mare on July 14, 2008, 04:40:03 PM
I think for many of us the word count in general is a big challenge, that's why I usually keep it to a limit because if I didn't people's stories would be 6,000 plus words lol

We tend to be a wordy bunch so I think a word count limit is a good thing.
Title: Re: For the August challenge (thinking ahead) Part 2 for the readers!
Post by: mare on July 14, 2008, 04:56:38 PM
Oh, one other thing. None of the stories should be posted until August, even if you finish it up before August.

Aww yay!! Damn you Mare for making me laugh my ass off with your rules, especially this one:

Quote
5. Be clear in explaining what you want your author to write. Because if I'm challenged to write a romance but that's all I'm given, the female lead will be dead by the second sentence. That will not be my fault, that will be the challengers fault lol

LMAO!! Okay... I'm sooo ready to be challenged now!! ;D

Um... I don't know if this was established, but can the participating authors challenge the other participating authors? LOL.

Post by: Rose on July 14, 2008, 09:08:56 PM
I don't like the word limit lol but other than that it sounds good. I think writing out of our comfort zone is definitely challenge enough lol.

And Reb we can challenge each other, otherwise almost no one could challenge us with that list LOL
Title: Re: For the August challenge (thinking ahead) Part 2 for the readers!
Post by: Rose on July 14, 2008, 09:19:49 PM
I challenge Mare to write a romance, where the girl is with leading man (your choices are Brian, Howie, or AJ)

As a side note the girl does NOT:
*die
*fall into a coma
*vanish into thin air
*get kidnapped by aliens
*turn into a groundhog (or any other creature)
*spontaneously combust
*sleep through the entire story
*have anything else happen that could make the girl out of this world forever lol

However, breakups are perfectly acceptable

Plus, the girl must be human.

Knowing Mare this is definitely going to classify as a Level 3.

Is that okay Mare? Or is that too harsh lol.

LMFAO!! That's PERFECT Rose (LOL)!! :D Knowing Mare, she's gonna find another twisted way to get rid of the girl, lol. Mare must be cringing reading her challenge, lmao.

**Gosh... I just totally jacked this response up, lmao. First stating the wrong name, and then having typos. Ugh.**

I challenge Julie to write a very violent horror story.

3/5 of the backstreet boys MUST die.
The killer cannot be a Backstreet Boy but must be a celebrity. A human one lol.
There must be at least one graphic death scene
It cannot be a dream

And I believe that about covers it.

Dear Reb

I challenge you to write a fluffy romance. For examples please see Kelly's (Honey) stories.

You have the same restrictions as Mare.

No...
*Killing the girl
*making her anything but human
*having her taken by aliens
*turning the girl into anything
*having her spontaneous combust
*having the girl in a coma
*having the girl sleep through the entire story
*no having the girl be gone from the world in any way, shape, or form

The leading man cannot be AJ. It must be Kevin, Howie, or Nick.

And while I'm at it, Melz...

I challenge you to write a story that has not one iota of romance whatsoever. No leading females, no kissies, no love angst, nada. Just a story centered around any of the five boys, or all of the five boys.

I'm on a roll lol.

It has to be at least 1,000 words but since you don't like the word count that shouldn't matter lol :P

One of the people in the couple has to be Brian and then you can pick anyone else. It doesn't even have to be from BSB it can even be a superhero if you'd like lol

I won't give you any more limitations cause I know you aren't a fan of slash. lol

THis is a challenge for Kellymouse since I didn't win bingo!

Your challenge is to write a story in which AJ has to die.

It can be as funny, serious or out there as you want but at the end he has to kick the bucket but he can't be killed by any of the other guys. Also AJ can't actually be the lead in the story. It should be told in flashback by one of the other guys.

The story has to be at least 1,500 words long.

Okay!  My challenge is for BSBSavedmylife  ;D

I challenge you to write a story where the leading character is either Nick or Howie.  The other guys can be in the story too... but one of those two have to be the lead.

The rules

-- The story can be any genre other than romance... there can be no romance involved.  The story has to be as completely utterly unromantic as absolutely possible.

-- There can be no female character in the story at all (even as a background character)

-- The story must be less than 3,000 words...

My challenge goes out to MonkyAbu.  Here are the rules!  *evil grin*:

Write a humor story about Nick and his beloved turtle "Herbie."  Tell an adventure in the day and the life of Herbie on tour with Nick.  Here are the restrictions:

1)  You must have A.J. come into contact with Herbie in a disastrous way.

2)  Herbie should somehow wind up in one of the guy's suitcases.

3)  Must exceed 1,000 words.

4)  When Herbie come up missing, tell how Nick is "not immune to the panic."

LMAO!  You know I love ya, PIC!   :-*

Rose I just finished your story and I have to say I had a lot of fun writing it so, thanks for the challenge! lol

I'm glad to see all the challenges starting to show up now.

It's hard to write out of your comfort zone but for those of you that aren't crazy about your challenges, remmeber you can always wait to see if someone else challenges you, this way you get to pick which one you want to write.

I got another challenge for my buddy Kentuckychickr k!  LOL!  Here we go!

Write a humor story involving all five guys.  Here is the scenerio:

1)  The story MUST revolve a table full of catering and their down to the LAST sandwich.

2)  You MUST tell the story in all five guys' perspectives.  Tell us what they're thinking in the temptation of this lonely sandwich on the tray.

3)  One of the guys finally gets to that last sanwich, but not before devising plan to keep it away from the other guys.

4)  Must exceed 3,000 words.

Ha ha!  Beat that!   :P

This might be too much work on your part, Mare, but is there any way you could keep track of how many challenges each participant has received in the post where you listed everyone who's doing this?  That way we'll know who has already been challenged more than once and who is still waiting on a challenge.

Because I want to challenge you? lol

Speaking of which:

I challenge Rose to write a story in which the plot is an old cliche. Doesn't matter which cliche, doesn't matter which genre (to an extent). However:

*If you use a leading man, it must be Howie or Kevin, because quite frankly, they need more love.

*If there is a female lead (or female leads) they must be named after members of the forum. And at least one female lead must talk in teenyspeak, if there is only one, then this is applicable to that one.

*You cannot kill, torture, or maim any of the Boys. Especially not: Nick. In fact, you cannot kill, maim, or tortue any character that steps into the fic.

*It is not allowed to be a parody or a dream.

*You must put a twist on the cliche plot, but (and here's the kicker), it cannot be so out of the box. That means:

~no Sci-fi, fantasy, or AU

~No spaceships, aliens, demons, ghosts, Star Wars references, Buffy references, or any other sci-fi/fantasy tv shows you love. None.

~No secret agents. I repeat, no secret agents. NO!

~Nothing that resembles time travel, the Butterfly effect, magic, alternate worlds, alternate existences, etc, etc, etc. If you think of an idea and it seems like something you would come up with in an insomniatic chat with a can of mountain dew in your hand, back away from it slowly.

And that's it. Some ideas I would like to see are: the epic bus crash fic or the girl band fic. But if you have another cliche, please toss it into this challenge. Myabe you can combine more than one cliche into a story. lol

And I don't care about word count, enjoy. ;)

Alota,

Your challenge is to write a sci-fi story. Other worlds MUST be involved. The story MUST be about Howie and Kevin. No Nick, No AJ, No Brian. The story must take place in the very distant future. Nothing during the 2000's.

The story must be in 3rd person. Omniscent 3rd person POV.

No real people other than Howie and Kevin are allowed to be involved.

The story must include some kind of alien named Bob.

The story must be at least 2000 words.

This can not be a dream.

Have fun! :)

This is purely for the fact I love sci-fi and want more of them lol.

I'll admit it, I'm hard to challenge. I've done sci-fi, romance, horror, fantasy, AU, action/adventure, I have plans for a suspense. I have written a visual before.

Mare covered the slash

Dee got me on the cliches (since I never do those if I can help it)

OkAy... hErE iS yOuR cHaLLeNgE (I remember when I used to type like this back in elementary/middle school, haha!!)

~*~*~*~

Rose... I challenge you to ANOTHER cliched fic, lol.

- The genre will be romance/suspense
- YOU have to be the main character, the leading gal who escaped from physical abuse
- Both Kevin AND Alexander James have to fall in love with you somehow
- You have to establish an affair with Kevin and a secret hookup with AJ, where you will then become pregnant and you don't know who the baby's daddy is.
- You have to establish a fight between Kevin and AJ over you, and a fight between you and Kristin for having an affair with her husband
- A little steamy, slashy thing has to go on between AJ and Kevin
- Nick has to contract 5 cancers somehow
- You finally find true love with Howard somehow, ya'll get married and live happily ever after with your TrainBone twins. :D
- It must contain some grammatical and spelling errors, maybe on Nick's behalf
- It has to be mainly dialogue. If you give discriptions, it has to be brief.
- And your word count will be... 1,501. ;D

I got one for Kelly (Honey Kelly lol)

Admittedly you've done so many genres, and you've done them quite well. As a result your challenge stumped me lol.

But I've got it.

I challenge you to write a story in 2nd person. (You're walking down a darkened hallway, the lights dim as they flicker sporadically. Turning your head you glance about when a loud crashing could be heard before shrugging it off as the horrible weather outside. ...etc. for example. like what's used in those old choose your own adventure books) The "you" is one of the boys, and interacts with the others somehow.

No other limits cause 2nd person is tough. Fun, creative, but tough.

I just like making people test their writing limits. I'm having a ball LOL

This challenge is for FrickFrackGirl .  It's more of an entertaining one than a challenging one, but genre-wise, it is something different for you.  Hope you enjoy, Jen!

I call this the LD Fanfic Challenge LOL.

The genre is comedy/suspense.

- Your story centers around a LiveDaily fan convention, which many of the LD regulars will attend.
- Unbeknownst to them, Nick gets wind of this convention and also decides to attend, incognito.  Nick will need a disguise, which you must describe.
- You must include encounters with at least three real LD regulars who are not Nickaholics.
- At least one act of violence takes place at the convention.
- During the convention, Nick finds himself drawn into a situation that would be deemed suspenseful, mysterious, or horrific - something along those lines.  This situation may or may not be connected to the act of violence mentioned above.
- Someone at the convention dies.
- There is to be no sex and no romance.

EDIT: I changed the word "conference" to "convention," cause that's the word I was looking for LOL.  I didn't edit any of the guidelines.

If you want, you don't have to name the regulars by their real names or real usernames... you can play with the names, change them a little, just as long as we know who they're supposed to be.  (Kinda like what I did in BMS.)  I dunno if that helps or not, but if it does, go for it LOL.

Dee, I now have a challenge for you!

I challenge you to write a visual, one between Nick and another member of the board EXCEPT me. (learned my lesson from Mare lmao). The visual must have at least 1,069 words. Also it must involve a tuna can.

Have fun! :)

This is purely for the fact I love sci-fi and want more of them lol.

well alright then! I am shocked to have recieved a challenge so quickly! But, I couldn't help but think of Star Trek when I read this! lmao. I, personally, LOVE aliens named Bob, by the way...how did you know that? Anywho...I'm excited!

Wow. I'm honestly surprised. You really have me stumped. Here I was thinking I was safe cause I've tried just about everything. (I've never done a vizzie, but I think that's about it.)

But I've definitely never written in second person before. I have written a screenplay which is similar, so maybe I'll have to think about it kind of like that. Rad challenge Rose, I'm kind of diggin' it.

I knew you were thinking that. Hell I was too. 2nd person I've only done a couple times and it's fun, once you get into it. Just a bit difficult. I can't wait to see what you do with it though.

This might be too much work on your part, Mare, but is there any way you could keep track of how many challenges each participant has received in the post where you listed everyone who's doing this?  That way we'll know who has already been challenged more than once and who is still waiting on a challenge.

See, this is where the Julilly side of my brain says something like, you guys should be able to keep track of that stuff yourself lol but the me side will bold the people who have already ben challenged. lol

Remember though, you can challenge a person more than once. If you do that they get to pick which one they want to write or can choose to write them all if they want.

Since you all seem so objected to the word count I consider that part of the main challenge because obviously you find that tough so therefore... if you exceed the word count, than your story doesn't count as being written.

To be fair i'll up it to 3,000 words I guess. :P

Sometimes 3,000 words can be hard to come by, & sometimes not.

I challenge Mare to write a story about Howie & a kid or two [or five-lol].

Rules

- NO killing the kids off, no causing them any serious harm [comas, car accidents, fatal diseases, etc.]

- Must be a happy ending story, because I love those! :D

- Relation of kids to Howie doesn't matter.

- They must be REAL children! No sci-fi stuff, or anything like that.

And I think that's it. I can't think of anything else at the moment - lol.

Okay Rebby! here's your challenge...I made it extra challenging (I hope), just for you!

The genere is mainly ROMANCE.

YOU have to be the main chick in the story...you can use your first name, middle name or a variation/alternate spelling of either.

The story MUST be from your point of view.

Since it is in your point of view, you can't kill yourself off or disappear, and you have to be your human self.

Your main man/ love intrest/ boyfriend is Kevin Richardson.

You MUST be in a loving and serious relationship with Kevin.

There has to be detailed description of how you feel about Kevin...how much you love him and his smile, his eyes/eyebrows, the way he looks at you...you know that kind of stuff.

There MUST be one heavy make out session between you and Kevin, described in detail.

You have decribe the lead up to a sexual encounter with Kevin but you can spare us all the details. Just cover the make out, hands wandering, or clothes shedding...no visual required.

AJ MUST be killed at some point...and YOU have to be the one who does the killing (no you can't be nice about it)!

The killing has to be a brief scene but MUST be graphic (no slipping something in his drink...make it good, like a brutal stabbing or something).

AJ MUST say something cheesy, right before he dies.

You have to explain your reasonings and thoughts behind having to kill AJ.

Nick has to, randomly, come through and trip over your bra.

Kevin has to, randomly, shove chopsticks up his nose at some point.

Howie has to call Kevin for help, because he got his butt stuck in a box.

While all this is happening...yo u MUST keep the romantic story line going! You cannot start out with the romance and then forget about it...you MUST keep the romance between you and Kevin constantly going.

This CAN NOT be a dream!

Your word count MUST be the maximum that Mare set.

Do you hate me yet? Or should I edit?   :P

I know, but I'd rather make sure everyone has been challenged at least once before I give someone their fourth challenge LOL.  And with 12+ pages, I'm sure most of us would rather not have to scroll through them all to keep straight who got challenged with what.  So thanks for at least bolding those who have been challenged. :)

Since you all seem so objected to the word count I consider that part of the main challenge because obviously you find that tough so therefore... if you exceed the word count, than your story doesn't count as being written.

To be fair i'll up it to 3,000 words I guess. :P

Thank you for your generosity... *said only slightly sarcastically* ;)

I don't know for sure because I haven't started on my story yet, but I will probably feel more challenged trying to stay under 3000 words than I will writing the content of the story LOL.

LOL that's true.  But having to write a horror story with three descriptive death scenes?  That's tough to do in less than 3000 words!

To make everyone's lives easier, i'm going to start a third stickied thread where you should take a minute and tell us who you have been challenged by and copy the challenge into the thread.

You can use this one to chat but let's keep the other one strictly about the challenges. That way it makes it easier to figure out who needs to do what. Kay? Kay. lol

Title: Re: For the August challenge (thinking ahead) Part 2 for the readers!
Post by: mare on July 16, 2008, 06:07:34 AM
I can tell you that a word count of about 1,500 in Microsoft word using the 12 font brings me to about 5 pages. That's with dialogue which I use a lot of in my writing. I'm sure for those of you who don't write a lot of dialogue, it might come closer to three full pages or three and a half.

If it's really that big of a deal with the word count I'll scrap it for those of you who have been challenged. So it's up to you, anyone who has been challenged up to this point, you can A) forget about the word count or as I like to call it... taking the easy way out or B) keep the word count and omit some of the things asked of you in the challenge.

From this point on though, the word count is in effect. Any new challenges have to be kept to 3,000 so be thoughtful when you challenge someone. If you want ten thousand things to happen in a story that should be about 3-5 pages in length, that's not a realistic goal.

The great and powerful Mare has spoken!! lol

My challenge is for Sinara

Since i'm not really that familiar with your work Sinara, i'm mainly going by your posts and things you said in the for those of you willing to give detailed feedback thread.

I challenge you to write a comedy, centered around either Nick or Howie. This is the hardest part of the challenge. It has to be completely dialogue. No descriptive paragraphs at all.

It can be about anything you want, but we should be able to tell what's going on solely from the dialogue written.

This will be practice for you for an upcoming challenge on the forum lol ;)

Jen, my dear... I challenge you to...

Switch Your Fandom.
- You will write a story featuring none other than the greatest band that ever walked the earth, *NSYNC
- The story shall be written in almost like a documentary format, where you will have to cover *NSYNC's accomplishment s as a band, and what they all accomplished individually after they broke up. (this part CANNOT be made up.)
- Wonder why you know so much? Because it shall be written in first person, where YOU (as in Jen, not Jane Doe) are the narrator and you happen to be *NSYNC's biggest fan.
- The year is 2025, and your job as their biggest fan is to get them back together and write a huge comeback for them.
- Write a big, nasty breakup for the Backstreet Boys.
- Justin Timberlake has to kill Nickolas Gene Carter. The way Justin kills Nick has to be brutal and twisted.
- You have to imply a good romance scene between you and Justin Timberlake because YOU are happy that he killed Nickolas Gene Carter
- Nickolas Gene Carter CANNOT mysteriously and magically come back to life. After Justin kills him, he is dead.
- This CANNOT be a dream
- And your word count is 3,000.

Doc, I know you already have two challenges but I'm still gonna give you one... ;D

Ok, the year is 2003 and you have just met AJ (Age yourself to where you are a wee bit younger than he).  Chronicle your life with him from your first date to his funeral journal style starting the year 2003.  There has to be at least 3 very important dates chronicled (ie, wedding, birth of children, ect) and you have to be as mushy, lovey-dovey as you can about how you felt during these "milestones".  Somewhere you have to recollect your first meeting.  Be very specific how it went and how you felt.  Oh, and TRY to stay under the 3,000 word limit, lol!

Title: Re: For the August challenge (thinking ahead) Part 2 for the readers!
Post by: Nijntje on July 17, 2008, 11:52:22 AM
This challenge is for sweet18_2003

I dare you to write a story in which Brian is the leading guy, since you mostly choose Nick, AJ or Kevin to be the center of the story.

Other 'rules' are:

Genre: NO medical drama or humor lol. It has to be a horror/thriller one.

Storyline: Brian has to be the bad guy. Why? Your decision, as long as it isn't because something bad happened to Baylee and/or Leighanne, he suffers from psychosis or whatever psychological/physical reason.

He has to hurt one (or more) of the other guys, but that can't be an accident! And by hurt, I don't mean punching their lights out, but something more gruesome.

The other guy has to have a mental breakdown right before or during being hurt by Brian.

Also, the whole thing cannot be a dream! The guys are the guys, we're not in the far away future or an alternate universe of some kind.

And your word count is at least 1500 words.

I hope that will  be a challenge for you and if you choose to do this one, I can't wait to read the result!
Title: Re: For the August challenge (thinking ahead) Part 2 for the readers!
Post by: Nijntje on July 17, 2008, 11:59:34 AM
This one is for Sakabelle!

Leading guy(s): As long as it isn't Nick, it's fine by me lol.. Well, it has to be one of the BSB or Sam and Dean from Supernatural.
Genre: Humor
Storyline: Start out by having him/them being chased by a orange dinosaur.
Restrictions: It can't be a (day)dream, alternate universe, time-travelling thing or something like that.
Word count: at least 1250 words.

If you decide to accept: Have fun and can't wait for the result!

Edit: Just some typo..
Title: Re: For the August challenge (thinking ahead) Part 2 for the readers!
Post by: Nijntje on July 17, 2008, 12:15:29 PM
And I have one more challenge, but this one is for TantillisinTeaser!

Leading guy: Howie

Genre: Humor and maybe a hint of suspense.

Storyline: Place Howie inside a psychiatric institution, trying to find his way out. He never succeeds though. He is there by himself, and there can't be any dialogue whatsoever. He might run in to other patients or staff, but we never hear them speak. The reader has to be 'inside' Howie's head, and all we can read are his thoughts or hear him mumbling to himself. He can either have gone a bit crazy or not, but whatever you decide, give us a good reason as to why he's there. Catch is, he is NOT there to visit any of the other boys.
Just to humor me, devote one paragraph entirely to him thinking about carrots.

Restrictions: Cannot be a dream again, or an alternate universe. The guys are the guys etc etc.

Word count: minimum is 1600 words.

If you decide to write this story, have fun and good luck!

Ok, I have a challenge for Nijntje.

I would love to read a fluffy fairy-tale romance from you. It can be about about any of the boys you choose or a female lead, doesn't matter. The catch is, you have to take it seriously. No wise crack stories about groundhogs or anything. There can be as much humor in it as you want, but it cannot be a sarcastic story or a parody in any way. You have to make me believe you love writing fluffy romance. Keep the story line as light and fluffy as possible! No drama/angst! and of course, in the end they live happily ever after!

Should you choose to except this mission, it would make me very excited!

Mare!

I know you have several challenges already, but I felt like adding to the list. Just in case you don't feel like writing romance or slash or whatever else, my challenge to you is to write a Supernatural fic! It can be whatever genre you'd like and about whatever you want and as long as you feel necessary. My only requirement is that both Sam and Dean are involved somehow. I'm not too picky, lol. I would just love to read Supernatural from you. You're so good with brotherly relationships. I would love to see how you do Sam and Dean!

Okay..here ya go then, Dee...

I want you to write a super outrageous comedy.

The story line should be this...all five of the guys get together to celebrate something. What they are celebrating can be anything from Leighanne being abducted by aliens to AJ or Nick FINALLY finding a decent girlfriend, whatever you'd like.

The rules:

-Kevin, Howie, Brian, and Nick have to get extremely plastered and end up passing out.
-AJ MUST stay sober...no relapse allowed.
-There should be a scene of the four guys arguing over what kind of shots to do.
-AJ should try getting the others to play various drinking games. (if they actually play or not is up to you.)
-You will have to explain what the four drunks do to embarrass themselves and how AJ reacts to thier stupid antics.
-AJ has to do something to each guy after they pass out. (put make up on them, dye thier hair, shave Howie's head, draw on them with permanant marker, whatever you'd like)
-At some point, Nick MUST end up locked out of the room in his tightie whities.
-Kevin MUST intentionally start a pillow fight with one other guy.
-Howie MUST intentionally stuff something (anything) up his nose.
-Brian MUST sing a bad rendition of Brittney Spears.
-The story should be as insanely funny as possible.

Alrighty...thi s one is for Kelly (honey).

Here is your challenge. You must explain in the first paragraph how AJ and Nick came into posession of CB radios. They play with them and somehow drag the others into thier little games.

Rules:

-After the initial paragraph of explanation, the rest of the story MUST be the guys talking in ONLY "trucker talk"

-All five guys must participate at some point. (Some can put up a fight because it's childish or whatever but they all must cave in by the end of the story and end up having fun with it)

-Thier "trucker names" are Chaos Carter, Bone Daddy, B-Rockster, Howard the Duck, and Black Caterpiller.

-If any other person is mentioned in the story, they must be refferred to ONLY by a "trucker name" (ex. if Leighanne walks in the room, Nick could say Blonde Boobs coming on in, make way.)

-The following phrases MUST be used at least once:
   -Come back.
   -Colorado Kool Aid
   -Over.
   -Over and out.
   -Do you copy?
   -Coming in, loud 'n proud.
   -That's a big 10-4.

-You MUST go to this site http://www.cbgazette.com/slang.html it has an alphabetical list of CB slang terms and thier meanings. In addition to the phrases above you must use at least one phrase or word from every letter. Other than that, there is no limit to how many words you can use...but, obviously the more they use, the funnier it will be.

Good Luck...I hope you accept!  ;D
-At least half of the CB slang phrases / words have to be used in proper context. The guys can mess the other ones up, if you want.

-The actual content of thier conversations don't matter. The whole challenge is about them being knock off truckers. You may want to include the above link, at the end, in case anyone wants to look up the meanings.

*edit was only for minor spelling typos

LMAO!! That is hilarious!

Okay...this one is for my dear Steph  (Sakabelle)

Your challenge is to write a story in any genere, except romance or comedy/humor.

Your main characters should be Howie, AJ, and Kevin. Nick and Brian are on vacation somewhere in Antartica so they can't be in the story AT ALL.

I am not going to give you a storyline...us e your creative juices.

The only rule is that the following items/words/phrases MUST be mentioned at some point in the story.

-Diet Cherry Pepsi
-snort
-Butterfinger(s)
-caramel apple pie scented candles
-I Know What You Did Last Summer
-Trick-or-Treat
-laptop
-popcorn
-one eyed, one horned, flying, purple people eater
-cell phone
-AT&T
-cable TV
-dirty socks
-pooper scooper
-pink leotard and tights

Remember that comedy/humor is not to be the genere, so you must make this as serious as possible.  ;D

That all depends on the married person. Besides, I never said he was picking up chicks for himself...mayb e he's screening them for Nick? Weren't we discussing his need for a decent girlfriend? Who knows who he'll end up with next, if we let him keep picking them, himself. lmao.  :P

I have a challenege for Mare!

Mare, should you choose to accept it, your challenge is as follows:

Write a story in which Nick premeditates and carries out the murder of Kevin.

And now the details!

~The story must be the maximum word count.
~The story cannot be a dream.
~The killing scene must be extremely detailed.
~The motive for killing Kevin can be anything and Nick can kill anyone else besides Kevin... But he must kill Kevin.
~Also, Brian has to provide comic relief at least once during this story, since you know... it's depressing. lol

Ready.... go! :)

Okay, maybe I should rephrase that. Married, devoutly Christian people like Brian don't pick up chicks. You know, especially when they have children and everything.

Besides, in order for the screening to be effective, all four other Boys would need to do it together, kind of like a reality tv show or something.... *dibs on writing that story, lol*

Alright...this challenge is for Miss Lenni!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should you choose to accept this challenge, the genere will be drama.

The main character is Kevin.

The story should be written in Kevin's POV. Here's the thing...Kevin's been really sick, lately. You'll need to discribe, in detail, what he is feeling and going through and what his symptoms are. After procrastinatin g (how long is up to you) he finally goes to the doctor (this is where some of the symptoms can be explained) and finds out that he has HIV or AIDS.

You would need to explain what finally made him go to the doctor and what his reaction is to the news. His thoughts will automatically go to wondering how he contracted it...does he figure it out and if so, how did it happen.

You should explain his feelings and thoughts about the whole situation. The story should also explain if/how/when he tells the other guys, his family, and friends. Explain everyone else's reactions to his news (if/when he tells them).

Now, you can give us just the run down of everything as it is happening to him or you can use it as a flashback while he's on his death bed.

Good luck! (if you accept, that is)

^ I just read Rose's challenge to you and since it takes place in the distant future and she didn't say you couldn't kill anyone you could just have Kevin and Howie dead and Bob be the person maybe eulogizing them on the 500th anniversary of their death or something? lol Maybe they are Gods on this new planet and you can explain why. That coulsd get you to 2000 words easy. lol :P

*waits for Rose to smack me*

YOU SUCK! lol *smacks you, smites you...goes and kills Nick* But it must be all about Howie and Kevin anyway. So yeah. Having Bob be the lead is so cheating.

I don't think it was a hard challenge anyway lol :P

By doing things that would leave you smite free. Not winning Bingo, being nice to me at all times, yeah, that's about it. lol After a few weeks the smite will dissolve.

Hey Lenni, be glad you have a challenge. I am (im)patiently waiting for one, even if I signed up only yesterday... heh.

Okay...here you go...

Your challenge is to write a twisted romance. The lead female MUST be one of the participating challenge writters (see the first page of this thread). She is AJ's long time girlfriend of 5 years, however she has been sleeping with Howie, behind AJ's back for 1 1/2 years. In reality, her heart belong to Nick, but he doesn't know.

rules:

-noone can die or be seriously injured
-all three men have to find out about everything she has been hiding
-someone had to start a verbal fight
-she MUST end up with one of the guys at the end

are you ready for the big clincher? The whole story MUST be told in the POV of her dog! Yes...this story MUST be told in the dog's POV. The dog is a cute french poodle names Sassy Girl and she goes everywhere with her master.

Have fun and good luck!  :D

So I thought that, even though I'm not writing a challenge (as of yet), I'd get in the game and challenge one of my favorite writers...Juli e!

So here ya go:

I challenge you to write a story where the leads are Howie and AJ. Kevin and Nick can be in the story (though neither of them should have more dialogue than Howie), but Brian cannot in any way be in the story, not even as a passing reference. The story has to be of the supernatural genre and include at least 2 supernatural beings (ex: witches, werewolves, etc). There should be absolutely no romance involved, though there can be females in the story. The story cannot be a dream, but there must be at least one violently graphic scene involving Howie or AJ AND one of the supernatural beings. The rest...is up to you and your imagination :)

Post by: RokofAges75 on July 25, 2008, 11:17:39 AM
LOL thanks, Sarah!  To be perfectly honest, I know I'm gonna write Rose's challenge to me.  If, by the time I finish that, I'm thirsty for more and not too busy, yours sounds like it would be cool, but I'm not gonna make any promises.  I'm a little worried that by the time August hits, my inspiration is gonna fly out the window because of Bsb shows and school.

(P.S. Oddly enough, I actually have a short story that almost meets your qualifications .  I think Brian is probably in it... but other than that, I think it's got everything else:  Howie and AJ, at least two supernatural beings, no real romance although there is a female (she's one of the supernatural beings), and a somewhat graphic death scene that involves AJ/supernatural being.  And it's not a dream.  http://www.geocities.com/dreamers_sanctuary2/evil.html)

This is challenge is for Sarah and I've been working on it for a while. lol

Sarah, you must write a story starring none other than Howie. Since his birthday is August and he doesn't get as much love as he should. So, got it? Starring Howie.

It should also be a fantasy and Howie needs to fight a dragon at one point. Because dragons are cool.

So yup, that's all. Go Howie! ;D

Next week, my Aunt, Uncle, & cousins will be here. The week after I see BSB again & will have more concert photos to edit & post. So, yeah....I may be a bit late with this challenge....

YAY!!! I am finding this  a bit late...just finished a pretty big move...but I am definitely going to take you up on this  challenge. Give me by the end of tomorrow, and I should have a good portion of it done :) It will be a challenge for me...but I look forward to writing it :)
