Hi, I'm Julie. I'm an elementary school teacher from Illinois. I started reading BSB fanfic over the summer of 1999, when I was 14, and I've been writing it for almost as long. My favorite kind of stories to write are drama/angst with a hint of romance, and most of my stories are about Nick or Brian. 400th review!!! You know how anal and OCD I am; I couldn't stand to see that number at 399. I just had to bump it up to a nice, round number. Did I mention this story rocks? Angst ftw! SPP!

OMG, LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad to see you back! This is a lot different from how I remember How to Save a Life, but I like it a lot so far! Very intriguing. The first chapter was really sad, and the next two were interesting. My only critique (and I'm sorry for being anal - I'm just bringing it up because it bugged me this whole chapter) is just a little historical inaccuracy - AIDS was not around in 1969, at least not known as "AIDS." It wasn't recognized until the early 80s. So even if Daniel had died of AIDS in '69/'70, he wouldn't have known it was AIDS he had. Sorry for being anal - I loved the rest!! :)

I enjoyed the new chapters. Sounds like Nick has finally found someone like him. It was nice to see how he met Claire; I'm eager to read more about them, too. Keep updating! :)
Just got caught up on the chapters posted since the blackout. Loving this! My favorite chapters are the Bsb ones (the audition chapter was adorable!), but the historical stuff is interesting, too. I'm curious to see where this is all going to go.
It's the winter of 1995 and as Nick and the boys are on tour, he finds himself growing anxious for unexplained reasons. As he slowly discovers the truth behind his fears, he is thrown into a world he had forced himself to forget.
Jeez, Mare LOL. Even when you give us more info, I end up feeling more confused than ever! At least we know Nick's dad and Kevin are both alive and well. Can't wait to hear the story of what happened with his mom! This story is so different from anything else out there; I love it!

Aw, poor Nicky! Glad we're getting more of the story about the fire. And glad Bob's not dead - that we know of. Can't wait to see what they find out next! Great update!

WAHHH!!!! Your chapter endings in this story are always epic! I still don't know quite who or what to believe. I'm thinking it's a good sign that Kevin was actually there, alive, but I still don't quite believe everything Nickolas is saying and that Max was really a bad guy all along. And it gets even more interesting now that Jane is back in the picture. I loved how you wrote the twist ending! Another awesome chapter!

Yay, a new story from Mare! I'm glad you finally posted this thing! Great start; I love it so far! You do a great job at writing in Nick's POV; it really sounds like someone telling a story. You had me in suspense, going, "There's not really someone coming to get him, is there?" I didn't think so, but it still reminded me of It Stays With You. You got me as paranoid as Nick! Can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter!

Aww, love it!! The dialogue in this chapter was great. “It was comfortable and I wanted to feel like I was camping.” LMFAO!!! You always write the relationships between the guys so well... I loved the Frick and Frack scene, as well as Kevin switching with Brian to talk to Nick at the end. I miss Kevin!! Poor, paranoid Nick... you have me wondering if the guy he noticed is really somebody following him or just him being paranoid still. Can't wait for the next chapter! Have I mentioned how great it is to have you back?

LMFAO thank you for the L-I-B-R-A-R-Y video reference; that made me giggle! So did "Wow, once again you have to re-examine your life when you can use a sentence like that as a starting point of a conversation." and "I saluted him, not sure why. Maybe because I’m a major in the Army of Dork!" LOL Good comic relief in this chapter. Much needed, cause otherwise it was pretty sad, with the whole flashback of Nick being locked in the freezer, and suspenseful, all the build-up of going back to Max. Can't wait to see what's gonna happen next!
